Political leaders are campaigning. Harper and Trudeau may be wondering if it's worth sweating in the heat. Polłs have the NDP well ahead at this early stage.
Mulcair will be afraid to say anything that might change the odds.
Harper's cold fish personality seems to have finally caught up to him. His handlers have been too clever by half keeping the electorate at bay. The Syrian crisis and the enormity of the human tragedy does not help his ever-ready battle stance. Being seen out an about, hand-in-hand with his estranged wife will avail him little. Futile artifice will be seen for what it is.
The twisted,distorted face of hate on an elderly conservative gentleman ,calling young female journalists "lying s-heads " at an invitation only campaign event, is a politicians's worst nightmare.
Trudeau the Younger swaggers through the crowds, quite unable to muster his father's style and as for the pater's intensity, the boy doesn't have a clue. The father had a fire in his belly the son will never know because Dad fixed the problem when he brought the constitution home.
Mulcair has all the intensity. After a shaky start,he just keeps getting better. He stoops at the microphone head thrust forward and slowly and clearly enunciates his position. He is the elder statesman of proven competence. Battle-hardened former Liberal,he has served as a Cabinet Minister in the Quebec legislature.
He understands the complexity of government. He does not offer simplistic solutions.
He can bide his time and take full advantage of Harper missteps and Trudeau two-steps.
He can look into the camera and state with confidence ....there is a better way....and doesn't
need a GPS to find it.
The race has substance .Things can change.

I don't know.
But it can't taste very good.
It certainly would be nice if Canada could regain a tiny bit of the reputation it once had for being peace-keepers
and a place where attention was paid to foreign disasters that forced people into flight.
Sorry Evelyn. I can't fathom and NDP government, especially with Mulcair. If there is one thing that Mr. Harper is, its consistent. That being said, unfortunately I can't vote for my Conservative MP. Its been another very disappointing group of candidates for me.

With memories of Bob Rae turning Ontario from a Have to a Have-not I cannot imagine a federal NDP government. My personal pension plan has taken a shit-kicking in the last 45 days as it is, it's value will drop to the point that any thoughts of retiring in the next 5 years will be gone.
Just a short comment on polls. Remember what the polls said just before the last provincial election? How wrong were they?
I find the whole issue about blaming Harper for the refugee issue a red herring. A convenient story for the left media to take a shot at the government. The reality is, no matter which of the three parties were in power, the same situation would exist.
8:28- You're 100% right about the refugee issue. And Mulcair was a Liberal longer than he has been NDP, but I've always found those 2 parties one in the same. I've been overall fine with the way Harper has been running the country. I don't care if he sweats, blinks to much, doesn't blink enough, or a cold fish. He's not my friend, he is the leader of our country. I just wish my Conservative MP was someone different. I won't be voting for that individual. My vote will also be a spoiled vote.

I am concerned about the refugee crisis, and the numbers NDP and Librals are proposing may lead to further crisis. I can understand the act of sympathy, but that sympathy may not be the same few years later. I think many Canadians may want to read international comments on refugees/migrants in other countries. Governments are deciding and not the people.
Harper is for Canada what W was for the United States.
Harperites? I despair.
A large number of the refugees are travelling with specific destinations and family support from other countries.
I doubt if there is going to be a surge of applicants to come to Canada.
That being said, Canada should have teams on site to assist those who might be considering such a thing.
Or those for whom support might be offered across the country.

Perhaps you should take a gander at the military sites to see what their groups think about your "leader ".
Those in my family consider him to be a failure in that department and they do vote in numbers as a rule.
Ya we'll just have to wait and see what the other 2 will do for our military if they squeak in. That'll be a real treat.

Unless they were just formed to garner votes, I would have expected them to be moving to help out
in a big way. Lots of photo-ops and great publicity.
But they do need to include All Aurora families with European backgrounds.

I am not blaming Rae for my life. I am just stating the facts of how this province was left to rot under mountains of NDP debt. I have a spouse that had to take "Rae Days" so it was close to home.
Trudeau has already stated that he will go further into debt. We all know that is the NDP mantra as well. Amazing how they are both calling out Harper on debt but both state that it will get worse with them.
My fear is my ability to keep my savings if an NDP government is in power. We all saw the hit the markets took when they took over in Alberta.
Harper does the dither thing well. He showed it on a small scale with the thalidomide victims.
Of course he is not to blame for the refugee crisis.
He should just be seen to be leading the response instead of being dragged along.

When the NDP came to office, they literally found the cupboards were bare.
And the same thing happened in Alta. Then the oil crisis hit.
