I hear the shelves at the food bank are almost empty. Food is not coming in.
It could be because of general hardship in the community .
If it is ,that makes it incumbent on the rest of us who can help to do even more at this time.
It's a shame people have to depend on handouts.
But we can't let them down when they need us
...And the Aurora Cultural Centre "continues to evolve" proclaims the newspaper!"Programming responds to community's desires" What about the community's needs? Why don't we sell the baby grand and donate the proceeds to the food bank? Hunger is not going to go away. I thank anyone that donates and gives of their time. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat has the Cultural Centre to do with the food bank?! You're talking apples and oranges here - one is a Town-owned facility and the other isn't.
ReplyDeleteThe Town doesn't have the responsibility of or for the Aurora Food Pantry. It is an independent operation, separate from the municipal corporation.
It is a charity worthy of donations of food and time, but let's not confuse it with Town of Aurora facilities.
It wasnt front page news...empty shelves were...
ReplyDeleteI stopped at the new food pantry location two Saturdays ago to drop off some groceries. From the looks of it I think they not only need stuff to put on the shelves but also maybe some help from volunteers.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see that David Heard was collecting last week at the farmers market. I won’t be able to make the market this weekend but will be sure to drop off some fresh produce next time. David was busy going over to thank a vendor that had just sent over some fresh chard. Keep up the good work David.
I’m following Debora Kelly’s articles about living on the food bank diet.

Maybe some of our local leaders should give it a try.
