The Word Is Out

The  Mayor of Aurora, at public expense and in the name  of the community...on the  eve of Thanksgiving .... when  families gather to celebrate the  blessings we enjoy..... had three families among us served  with notice of intent to sue ....with all the might of the municipality....with murky reference to political criticism ... for  damages of six million dollars.

At the final  meeting  of Council ....   as  candidates seeking re-election  .... when all other Councils  have already conceded authority in principle.... while stewardship is being called to account .... Morris, MacEachern. Gaertner,Granger, Gallo and Wilson reached out and  smote  a vengeful blow against  members of  our community  whose interests they had sworn an Oath  to protect.

Once again, they huddled together behind a malodorous, masquerade of  wronged righteousness  and  cloak of legal counsel,  bought with taxes collected  from the families being sued and the rest of us, at no time  acquiesced  to be used for any such  purpose.

We are  in the process of exercising our choice in the election of a  Council  to serve for the next four years.

The names Morris,MacEachern,Gaertner, Granger.Gallo and Wilson will be on the ballot.

By this final act, we know without doubt, their understanding of the authority and purpose of  a Council.

It  remains for new candidates  to declare, without equivocation,  a stance on our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the  role of an elected representative to stand in its defense.

  1. The all-candidates meeting on the 17th should be an interesting affair. The mayor with her litiginous tastes is about to get a taste of what unapologetic taxpayers feel is yet another waste of money to satisfy her ego.

  4. Mr. Dawe must bring this up at the debate tomorrow and call this woman to task--How dare she?--She really has lost it?--She must not be using any of the brain cells God gave her. She can't win an election when treating citizens with such disdain

  7. In the name of the community? Please, leave me out of this one! In the days to come, their reputations will precede them, voting day and thereafter. Priceless!

Yesterday Grainger appeared at my door. I specifically asked about the litagation-happy council. he said and I asked for clarification to be sure, that the only litagation is the suit by Evelyn Buck against himself and 5 others. He said that the Morris suit is not litagation! I asked him why he approved it and he said that he was defending the good name of Aurora Town employees and I should not read the blogs because they are full of mis-information!

    Is this guy for real?

  10. Good Morning Evelyn,

Allow me to start by wishing you a terrific day and victory at the polls on October 25.

In my wildest imaginings I could never have envisioned a scenario such as this being played out, at any level of government. Not in this country.

I thought that I was past the age where I could be surprised or shocked by the desperate vindictiveness of an outgoing politician that refuses to go with some shreds of dignity and goodwill from the people left to pay for their hubris. I am left to wonder at the collective intelligence of the people that support this or allow it to happen.

How- can- they –not- know? This will become so much bigger than the Town of Aurora or the voters that define it. This will explode onto the national stage. How can it not? Any politician or party at any level of government who would undertake or champion an action like this grossly underestimates the intelligence and the will of their electorate. That Canadians will sit still and be silent, forfeit their right to criticize and chastise their government or allow that right to be stolen from them is simply unimaginable.

I have never doubted or wavered in my belief that Aurora will have a different mayor come October 26. I did not have that same conviction about some of the incumbents. I am sick at the thought that anyone who would not disavow an action like this could be allowed to swear an oath or be a part of forming any sort of government organization whose sole purpose is to represent the taxpayers.

My heart goes out to the moderators of the AC, I have no doubt whatsoever, that they will prevail or even that they will be compensated for their expense. The toll this will take on them personally and their families cannot be measured in dollars and cents. What this will cost the taxpayers can be, and it will be steep.

Citizen dissatisfaction with their elected officials is hardly unique to Aurora. This council’s final actions are. For years citizens have been asking their provincial government to allow the Ontario Ombudsman to review Municipal governments across this province. The Municipal Act is deeply flawed; the province will eventually accede to the wishes of voters. Soon, they will have no choice; they have their own election battle looming. Wouldn’t Aurora be a perfect test case for Andre Marin and his SORT team to sink their teeth into? Shame! Shame! Shame!

There is so much more that I want to say, but, I am still so upset, and I am finding it difficult to form coherent sentences to articulate my disgust.

    Sincerely,
    Luckywife…………..My name is Melanie.

  11. Some countries have used tanks to squash any dissent against the party.

In Belarus, if you are opposed to the current dictator, you are liable to just “disappear”.

In Aurora, you get slapped with legal action by the town.

Stalin would roll over in his grave.

  13. To the last poster:

A lack of activity on AC recently does not mean the Morris suit is working; far from it.

The exact opposite is taking place.

Legal strategy and counter action is the rule of the day. These must, by necessity be carried out in private.

The general public will have to be a bit patient.

And the general public is both aroused and enraged.

  14. I am so offended by this. Using taxpayer money to sue taxpayers for publishing other peoples opinions. Outrageous. I truly hope this is the straw that breaks the camels back, in terms of any of them being re-elected.

  16. And to think that Granger seemingly did not think that there was any litigation out there except for yours. WHAT AN XXXXXXX. He is either lying or really had no idea what he was voting for. The people will let us know the answer to that question on Monday. I hope we are loud and clear when it comes to the incumbents less one. Have a great day everyone! The end is near!
