Elizabeth Bishenden has left a new comment on your post "Paul Sesto's Demand For Clarification":
"The report suggests Conflict of Interest on the part of the former Mayor. Filing a complaint would certainly produce the information sought by Mr.Sesto . A judicial decision would be made, one way or another."
Does anyone in town have the heart or stomach for another lawsuit?
I think not.

Elizabeth, it's clear the decision made by Council to terminate the legal contract and pay fees for which the parties were "severally and jointly liable", has not satisfied many members in the community.
Including myself.
Mr. Sesto is not the only citizen demanding to be informed of how this appalling situation proceeded to the point it did. Several other lengthy, articulate and persistent letters have been received by Council.
The community is not satisfied to let this matter go.
As it stands , nothing is clear. Even after the town spent an additional $5,600. on legal fees, information obtained is not being released. The taxpayers paid for it. Yet they are not permitted to receive it.
A Conflict of Interest charge is not a law suit. It is a judicial review. All facts are revealed. No stone is left unturned.
Despite laws and legal advice, nothing is legal until a judge says it is.
If anyone in the community is interested in pursuing the truth to the end, I can provide a name and resource.

ReplyDeleteObviously the smell from this affair is not going away.
There are still members of the taxpaying public who feel that they were ripped off by having to pay even a penny in legal costs
for the former mayor's personally motivated defamation suit. There was no damage done to the town or its municipal
functioning. The acquiescence by the present Council is not right or just; it is simply a way of "putting things in the past."
As I understand you, a Conflict of Interest charge, likely accomplished by filing an affidavit, is not a law suit but a judicial review
under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. Possibly the person initiating same might have to attend an Examination for
Discovery that could be held right here in Aurora. That should not take too much time.
You put a real teaser at the end of your post timed 12:22 pm today:
"If anyone in the community is interested in pursuing the truth to the end, I can provide a name and resource."
Seeking Justice
Many may be interested to know why councillors from the immediately previous and former terms have not brought this conflict of interest matter forward.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth:
ReplyDeleteDo you know why or are you asking them to tell us why?
We are all VERY interested!
Elizabeth -
ReplyDeleteWho better to lead the charge and more entitled to the information?
Go girl!
Unfortunately, anonymous submissions and encouraging statements are just plain...anonymous.
ReplyDeleteIf Mrs. Morris was in conflict of interest, someone needs to put their name to the claim.
What may be a conflict of interest is Elizabeth asking for someone to file a conflict of interest charge against Morris. Perhaps Elizabeth's lawyers should be instructing her to stay out of it?
