Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "The Town Was Not Well Served":
"No one cares who's fault anything was."
Aren't you reading this blog? Cllr Buck certainly does.
Apparently everything at "fault" is down to a secretive MorMac Cult or some nefarious Morrisite cabal. It's all the same tinfoil hat conspiracy theory, anyway.

And your point is?
You would think someone at the ACC would have taken a course in logic
ReplyDeleteHere are new names from the secretive board: Farm them out to Watts and we will be able to SEE them.
ReplyDeleteCathy Harris, Frank Pulumbarit, Karin Allen, Sandra Iacobelli, Shirley Russell, Susan Shaw and Tracey Cox.
Well, the point may be that finding a conspiracy around every corner only pushes you further to the fringes of credibility.
ReplyDeleteLast term you suffered abominably at the hands of the mayor and her cohorts, and people sympathised with you. They worked too hard to stifle you - you had only one vote, after all, and they had a ready majority. Smarter, less paranoid politicians would have simply ignored you, if that was their goal.
This term, in your vindictive efforts to get your own back, you've lost some goodwill. The previous term was ugly, but your vendetta sure ain't pretty.
Councillor Buck, you - along with the rest of us - aren't getting those four years back. Continuing an agenda of animosity won't retrieve them, nor reverse what transpired during that period.
Yes, efforts were maliciously made to sideline you last term, but this term you are succeeding in marginalizing yourself. Many of your screeds veer towards the ridiculous, rendering their potential impact or influence as impotent. Sure, we hear you "roar," but much like those in the fable of The Boy Who Cried Wolf listened to his cries.
The more conspiratorial and contemptuous your commentary, the more ridiculous and reckless the ravings of some of your commenters are, the quicker this blog slips into irrelevance.
Not a whole lot of logic required when you study culture in the Forestry Division at the Department of Natural Resources or are out demanding that Magna and other owners of buildings on Yonge Street should hand over their properties to the homeless.
ReplyDeleteThose are just 2 of the shadowy board members.

ReplyDeleteActually it slips into credibility.

ReplyDeleteYours is a well-written, but typical response to what Evelyn is doing. I will try to address a couple of the assumptions and points you make.
First, you assume that Evelyn's motives are simply revenge-based against the people who mistreated her in the last term. I have never understood that to be her motive, either this term or last. Evelyn is a seasoned politician, accustomed to the cut and thrust of political life. If she was concerned about her own "safety", she wouldn't take on the role of a councillor. If you really think that these are her motives, then all of your interpretations of Evelyns actions will be in error, IMO.
Second, and again this is typical, you seem to want to suggest that the only way forward is to stop wasting time on fixing the past. This is a fallacy, in my opinion. The issues of the past, so long as they continue to impact the taxpayer, ARE the issues of today. If it feels like we are wasting time addressing them, you should not take it out on Evelyn for having the courage to adress them. Your frustration be directed where it belongs - with the originators of the issues.
Last, I see your use of the word "conspiratorial" as a way to discredit Evelyn's (and others) efforts to understand, remedy and prevent these issues from perpetuating and costing us all time and money. You are attempting to lump Evelyn in with 911 truthers, Obama birthers, and UFO abductees as a nutcase. This is a cheap and mindless argument. Very easy to put forward, not a lot of original thought involved.
The people that voted for Evelyn did not do so out of sympathy. We did it in order to try to have a better council that would hopefully fix the problems. This is what Evelyn is pursuing, with the whole-hearted and unwaivering support of those who voted for her.
KA-NON
Wow, Evelyn, it looks like you netted one very angry unpublished writer this morning around noon. Why do they have such a speed-bump in front of getting a Web-site of their very own?
