A lot of private individuals are maligned on this web site.
I hope Ms Buck (as moderator) has insurance.

Au contraire, mon ami
People who project themselves into the political arena are not private.. I am one for example. Every comment I make is subject to critical analysis and may be commented upon by any other citizen.I was not forced into the role.
When Catherine Marshall joined the public debate in a letter to the editor, after the St Kitts deluge of unsubstantiated allegations and unfounded accusations, permitted in a public, televised meeting by her friend and admirer, the former Mayor about this time three years ago.
Ms Marshall freely entered the arena.
One of the more repellent aspects of the situation was that my grand-daughter was present for a spectacle that degraded everyone present.
Ms Marshall offered later in said letter to the editor that my grand-daughter was not disturbed .
The experience might very well have been adverse for Hayley girl
had she witnessed grand mother participate in the shameful
display.
She did not.
On a motion , Council quickly moved beyond the episode to cheerful presentation of awards for art excellence to the group of children. They were ten years old . The joyful occasion was not tarnished by an action of mine. Or any sign the attack had caused personal distress.
Catherine Marshall, ironically, probably a judge of the art, had no such compunction .when she wrote the letter to the editor attempting to minimize the impact.
Privacy is surrendered when one jumps on all fours, uninvited, into a mud-wrestling pit that was Aurora's political arena for the past four years.
Was she stifled?
ReplyDeleteHope so!
Catherine Marshall was also soliciting items for the Ranger silent auction last year - she then gave them to Morris to claim as her collection from the people. Those who gave her the items were not amused. She uses people.
ReplyDeleteShe was also front & center at the invasive council meeting that cowed the council over the termination clause. Someone figured it took her about an hour and a half to get ready for the event.
Have I offended enough? I am trying hard.
Evelyn. I think the idea might be to portray Jan the Jam Lady as a " private individual ". It won't fly as we know about her going after campaigning Geoff Dawe about rules that might/ or might not have existed. We have film of her very publicly trying to collect Morris votes at Yonge & Wellington. She represented Morris and the former Council from her booth at the Market and allowed them to use the space every weekend.
ReplyDeleteShe cannot suddenly pretend to have spent her time in the cloisters. Doesn't mean she won't try it on for size. Actually, now that she has gone from just being on the Market board to being the head makes her even less of a private individual. She now proudly? heads up the Aurora Farmers' Market. Can't have it both ways.
If your comment-maker is referring the the Lady of the Jams, he/she will also have to look at the Aurora Citizen and monitor discussions in town. There is nothing Private about that woman. She brought this onto her own head - heaven knows why.
ReplyDeleteYup. No one knows about the Jam Lady. Fewer can name their Council members. Gimme a break !
ReplyDeleteGuess Ms Marshall took a course in child care. Just like the one Morris took in law. Instant experts.
ReplyDeleteDoes the fact Ms Marshall was in a paper's photo give you the right to discuss her and her linkages to other individuals (public and private)? I guess some of you don't mind that.
ReplyDeleteWould you feel the same if the person in the paper was any one of you?

ReplyDeleteI see the early morning grumpus is still with us.
I don't understand all the fal-de-ral about statements posted by Ms. Buck on a personal blog. Don't like what she says, that's o.k. too. Yet, I think the barbs that show up here in response are pretty catty, downright bitchy. If you need to vent, start your own blog.
ReplyDeleteThe ever faithful Ms. Marshall has penned more than one letter to the editor in defence of her close friend Ms. Morris and she has not pulled punches in the process.
ReplyDeleteMorris and her supporters have always tried to hold the moral high ground in their efforts to hold others accountable. I find it interesting to watch what happens when others try to hold up a mirror in their direction.
Free speech is not a one way street and that is especially true when it relates to politics.

ReplyDeleteMy Response... Ya, suing with the town’s money worked so well for the former mayor that I'm sure a lot of people will be prepared to put $100,000 to $400,000 (or more) of their own money on the line as a result of a political debate !
What have we come to in this town ? If you don't agree, I'll sue.
i feel badly for the Jam Lady as I feel she is being manipulated and used by the gang from the past.
