SO, You Disagree

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "A Perspective On Accounting, Water Rates And Tax...":

"Hopefully some of this is helpful for you."

Unfortunately, not. You post a critical point of view of a report that is not included. I can only take the comments out of context.

If it's safe to post here, can you post who it was from? Sounds politically motivated by the way he/she addresses Councillor Wilson. Like him or not, he was a sitting Councillor and should receive the respect owed to the position.

No offense, but there is no substantial  information here.

****************
If you need to read the report to gain perspective, it can no doubt be read on the Town's web site.
Since you do not re-call the debate when  water rates were challenged by myself in 2010 and every year since then apparently you are a new resident.
It took three  years before there was staff  acknowledgement that town water use was not being accounted for.Rates were calculated to recover  revenue  to pay the Region's invoice.
Consumers, believing water meters meant  being charged only   for water used  were actually being overcharged.
Residents on private wells and septic tanks not receiving  bills do  not pay a share of  the miscellaneous item on the water bill.
Councillor Wilson did project himself as a tax saver. And he might have been, had he  allowed his own judgement to prevail.
I watched him repeatedly back away from his own sense of things.
He did change the vote on a couple of items. Had he not voted for a planning change, St Maximillian Kolbe's School would never have been allowed to be  built.
He was a candidate to be re-elected in 2010. The remark was  fair political comment. It has nothing to do with respect for the office of Councillor.   .

  1. Dear Evelyn:

In a couple of weeks your blog will be five years old.

    Congratulations are in order.

Despite the pummelling you take regularly, both here and at council meetings, you have continued to be true to your convictions, on rare occasion having to admit making a mistake.

It's disappointing that our local government representatives don't seem capable of growing into their responsibilities. Likewise many of senior staff.

This is probably just as true today as it was 25 years ago.

But your sun will continue to shine through it all.

    Keep it up!

  2. This has nothing to do with the current topic. But I felt I should mention that a Toronto man has been charged for Twitter messages. Someone around here called Clowncil or clowncil watch has been using those. Perhaps they are unaware that they can be easily tracked down? As a woman pointed out, " If my grandson can find you, so can the police ." Actually I think it would be funny but am offering the warning anyway

  3. You wrote "Councillor Wilson did project himself as a tax saver"

Actually his elections signs at the time said 'tax fighter'. BTW some his election signs also pointed out he was crime fighter.
