I don't understand. How can 2 Council members for
Aurora be standing beside the woman from whom the town is trying to extract an
apology and the return of its misappropriated money?
***************
"Misappropriation" is a term of illegality. . It does not describe legal fees authorised by a majority of Council members for an inappropriate purpose and followed through by the town's administration.
Council members attending court, seemingly in support of the former Mayor defence against charges of Conflict of Interest in voting for an action involving financial benefit to herself, will have to answer the question themselves.
I cannot.
At the moment, there is indication a notice of motion will be brought forward by a Council member to express an apology for regrettable circumstances and possibly recovery of expenditure of public funds in the amount of $55,000. for one lawyer and $8,3000 for another,
Wording of the motion is not known at this time. .
It is difficult to imagine how we can expect to recover the funds, considering the current Council voted, on legal advice, to pay the above fees of the lawyer hired by or on behalf of the former Mayor's suit for $6.million against town residents.
Ok. Correction understood. Thank you. Let me try again. Will it be possible for the 2 Council members who supported Morris on Friday & the one whose late-filed, unsworn affidavit also supported her, to sit and vote on the proposed motion?
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that there probably isn't any chance to recover the money.
The amazing thing is that the councillors that effectively gave Morris a blank cheque, using our tax dollars, don't seem to think that anything wrong has been done. Morris didn’t even agree to sign the indemnity agreement with the town while at the same time the Town Council's Code of Conduct says that public office can't be used for personal gain. Getting the town to pay for Morris's legal bills with no risk to her as she attacks her political rivals isn't apparently seen as "personal gain" by her allies opn Council. Someone needs to explain that logic to me because I just don’t understand how they think they can get away with that blatant breach of the council’s own rules.
ReplyDeleteI am willing to bet that the gang of six and their honorary 7th member (namely Councillor Ballard), could well make the very same mistakes again, if given chance. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they appear to have learned nothing.
I think this might be the 3rd year in which I have drawn to Morris' attention that the tree outfits north of Bradford are hiring baggers to do Xmas trees. She could camp out in Bradford and work with our grandson. You need gloves.
