Five Little Monkeys Sitting On The Bed

No single Councillor  has  authority to make decisions. A majority is required. That's five votes when all members are present.

Mayor Dawe, Councillors Abel, Thompson, Humphryes and Pirri were  the five who voted in favour of approving an  additional $2.6 million to tthe original estimate of$4.8 million.

Councillor Abel is the only one who has put his arguments into writing.

The Mayor expressed appreciation that eight students from local high schools formed  the steering committee with staff and architect representation.

Councillor Humphryes arguments are not clear.

Councillor Pirri argued that as the youngest member of Council, he has a better appreciation of why the project wss exciting to the youth involved.

He also argued for parents of youth. They want their children to have something to do after school.

They do not want them to b e pre-occupied with game playing technology.

All  members had their arguments ready. As if   pre-rehearsed.

I found them to be without substance or persuasion

The thinking  was shallow .

I realize my comments do not reflect well upon the  majority who made the decision.

But they passed the Code  and Clause 3 requires me to follow this  direction. when relaying any information.

  1. That Code is not going to determine if this project goes ahead. /check out the on-line Auroran poll. Since no numbers are given, we only have a percentage. Still the thing is holding firm at around 83-87 % against moving ahead. I expect even Mayor Dawe might notice that little item - if he still bothers to check on line.

  2. During the next couple of weeks all members of Council should have brain scans to confirm that they are in place and functioning.

  3. Councillor Humfryes could mail her comments & votes in. I seldom manage to follow her sentences because the ends keep moving out of reach. Have no idea what she's talking about- whatever happened to planning ahead of a meeting ?

  4. Mayor Dawe is quite comfortable spending tax payers money. He’s on the York Region council…that debt is about $2 billion right now.

  5. Nope, 2:32 PM, he won't notice. He's a ' people guy '. The other alternative is working the social media like mad. Pox on both sides - we need something to be positive about and neither Dawe nor Ballard offer it. Have a nice evening.

  6. I could see inane contributions like 3:48 PM's being published if you allowed all submitted comments, but since we know you don't...
