Someone who is not a politician but who has opportunity to observe the character of various communities , informs me ours is more engaged and better informed than any other.
If I needed it , the information persuades me to believe my confidence is not misplaced.
The Blog is six years old. It has grown and evolved solely as a result of the exchange between us.
We have been striking a path and finding our way together.
I don't think I'm about to lose my core group of commenters. They are not going anywhere.
I think the numbers will just continue to grow.
Even those who abhor what we have to say, can't resist logging in to read it.
Auroran is up. Alison has a good article. And Evelyn's comments on internal borrowing got in. A good night with no chicanes.

ReplyDeleteJustin Trudeau and his wife are expecting their third child.
Stephen Harper is expecting prorogation to save his hide from further Senate fall-out.
He and his wife have been conducting their annual summertime tour of the arctic where he continues to make promises and lavishes multi-hundreds of millions on the locals and their blighted environment.
The two were pictured standing on a bridge and waving, to whom we know not, from a distance of what must have been more than half a mile. They looked half an inch tall and he, in his navy coat, much like a bloated whale.
Wonder what the cost of this trip is in relation to other peoples' travel expenses? Did he ride the $620,000 stealth snowmobile?
And in a breaking report from the Wall Street Journal Verizon has been caught with its mitts full of illegal social airwaves stuff: the Spy who would come to Canada?
Don't you just hate it when someone reads the newspaper out loud?

ReplyDeleteMe? I appreciate that summary. The Globe did not show up on our doorstep this morning.
ReplyDeletePRIME MINISTER CONTINUES TUNDRA TOUR
Mr. Harper slept out on the tundra and with some of the now 5,000 Canadian Rangers joined the part-time force as it conducted a "sovereignty patrol" by water.
He conducted target shooting with the Rangers, using WWI vintage Lee-Enfiled rifles, first issued to British troops during the Boer War. So our Sea King rescue helicopters are only half as old as the Rangers' rifles.
Mr. Harper was instructed how to light a traditional carved bowl lamp which traditionally uses seal oil. He was unable to light it and wryly remarked, "I guess I'd die in the wilderness."
Tuesday evening ended with a bonfire on the beach. Since there are no trees on King William Island the wood had to be flown in from Yellowknife.
Mr. and Mrs. Harper, the Defence Minister and Chief of the Defence Staff slept in white tents guarded by Rangers and the PMO's close protection detail.
Where was the latter during the Duffy debacle?
Prorogued? Is that like vacation without pay? Mmmm,I didn't think so. The 'without pay' part I mean.

ReplyDeleteSame old, same old. The Ontario Premier dodged the bullet too. They are both treating us like the idiots we must be.
@1244
ReplyDeleteThanks for the news update on Harper in the Arctic
While you are focused on the Tories in Ottawa, the Provincial liberals continue their stealth attacks on Ontarians
Currently physiotherapy and diabetes measuring tabs are severely cut back
Now courtesy the Windsor Star a new stealth attack on consumers is about to be unleashed

ReplyDeleteIt's OK. You can fill in anything missed. The Globe had decent coverage yesterday on the the Liberal debacle. Why do you always make assumptions about the comments of others? Might we not be interested in the entire picture?
See what happens when discussion strays from "Our Town and Its Business" - you get the tiresome tit-for-tat partisan party politics.
ReplyDeleteChristopher is Back. I haven't read him yet but heard he took a few scalps.

ReplyDeleteInstead of firing off antique rifles and failing to light a seal oil lamp, the Prime Minister and his MAJORITY government should have made amendments to the National Defence Act, and in particular to the anti-terrorism provisions in it.
The retiring commissioner, Robert Decary, hurled pointed remarks at the failure to do so that may have resulted in spying activities on Canadians during the past year by the Communications Security Establishment Commission, CSEC to those who revel in this kind of crap.
Former Defence Minister Peter MacKay commented in June that the government WAS NOT spying on Canadians.
Peter MacKay wouldn't know a spy if he ran one over with a stealth snowmobile

ReplyDeleteIn which you participate with great gusto. Not all grandparents in Aurora drive BMW's. Nor do parents. You are stereotyping again.
Um, I hate break it to you, 18:41, but that wasn't me. Face it, there might actually be more than ONE person who gets through that doesn't share your views.
ReplyDeleteI'm the one that thinks the non-Aurora-centric discussions are best held elsewhere.
