Well...y'know...I don't claim to know everything. Neither do. I claim accuracy in all things.
Others accuse me of claiming to know better than anybody else about everything there is to know.
I do have opinions. It's a natural characteristic of Scottish folk. I tend to enjoy expounding my opinions. Another natural characteristic.
I say natural instead of national because I believe the geological nature of a place shapes the character of its people .
Scotland is severe in landscape and weather for the most part is grim and dreary as well. If we don't find something to laugh about in our misery, the chances are we would never even crack a grin.
It's a force majeur.
The humour tends to be different as well. It could probably be best described as sardonic. Sometimes it's even rougher than that but only another Gael would understand it. It's not meant to be shared outside the circle.
The blog gives us a chance to give vent to our reactions.
Which in turn, provokes someone who does know more about the subject to throw some light on it..
That can't be a bad thing....can it?
Maybe we should talk abut the great minds that planned a meeting at the Town Hall to hear about the fearful arrival of a Bell cell tower for the first day of school ? And why there has been none announced for the 2 other major projects against which voting has been in the high 70 %/ low 80 %'s in the Auroran ?

11:12... What does the first day of school have to do with anything? Isn't the meeting at night a few hours after school's out?
ReplyDeleteLet's use the opportunity to make all discussions at Town Hall about Town controlled issues. No cell towers, no DND, no regional road fencing, etc. etc. etc.
If we focused on what we are in control of and can actually chart a course through, we would have a more productive council.
The best editorial cartoons are not funny as in ha ha. They work when they hit a nerve. Lots of stuff hitting the nerves of Canadians these days.

ReplyDeleteTown controlled issues...like town spending? There's been no control with those issues either!

ReplyDeleteThe first day of school can be the longest day of the year. It does not stop when the last bell rings. Parents could care less about a stupid pole.
ReplyDeleteHaving watched a good portion of tonight's GC meeting I wish to vent my reaction.
What exactly is a Cultural Master Plan, who thought up this idiotic concept, who is the consultant retained to create this, what is his/her experience in this field and what is this nonsense costing?
Our town is filled with culture in the very fact that people live and work and interact together.
What "ad hoc" committee and what cultural master plan will change any of this?

Scrap Sport Aurora and substitute:
AURORA HOC/SOC
This discussion gets stupider by the minute!!!
Sorry, Evelyn. I have had to quit. Did a pretty good run but then hit the Culture Thingee. What bunkum ! I can see them holding public meetings asking all & sundry to attend & getting zip. Not up there on my hit list & I don't think residents care about all that inclusive nonsense.
ReplyDeleteReally wanted to hear about that poor soul asking to cut down a few trees on his property. But our priorities are skewed. Take care.
Once again we are trying to define ' culture '. It cannot be done and is a colossal waste of time and money. The consultant is laughing all the way to the bank because Aurora wants to do what a few other councils have done. Like the Code of Conduct and chicanes. 'Noble experiments ' all.
