One is supposed to lead by example.
What would you have said and continue to say if Mayor Dawe had performed, in public, the way Rob Ford has done?
I wouldn't expect you to say that such a performance was enhancing our town's image or reputation.

Election before last, I registered as a candidate forMayor. On reflection , I decided against .
The town deserved a more youthful image.
I never had a doubt about my competence to bring a Council together to work for the best interest of the community, to ensure accountability and share the satisfaction of a job well done.
I have a few basic principles;
Respect for the voters right to choose
The Mayor's role is pivotal.
Judgement is paramount.
Council authority must be respected.
Taxpayers must receive full value
Spending must be controlled by Council.
Fairness, Equity and Consistency is the backbone of decision-making.
Employees at every level, committed to the dignity and meaning of public service are the face of the organization . Their role is the day to day and face to face delivery of service and must be acknowledged and respected.
Leadership comes from the Mayor's Chair ...well not precisely the chair....the Mayor
We don't need someone who thinks he's slumming.

I think that anyone, Mayor or not, who thinks that the Centre represents Culture in Aurora has not been answering my doorbell on this wretched night.
18:42, I thought the Grinch was associated with Christmas?
"All things in moderation" - Aristotle
Our world seems to be more extreme than it used to be. Certainly our politics is that way. We are beset by ideologues who no longer have to think about and plan the future. Instead they quote little phrases written by others, often others who we never see or meet or hear.
There is little constructive discussion, little compromise, little progress.
Instead we seem to drift down a river at an increasing speed, unaware of where the rapids may be located, or a sudden sharp and dangerous drop.
We appear to be disconnected from our world, surviving but no longer participating.
Unless we participate we have no right to complain or to criticize those who now dominate the airwaves, and tell us how to live our lives and what that will cost.
It's time to wake up and become moderates once again, to reconnect and take back control from those who have seized it.
We live between 2 schools. That is terrific most of the year . With one exception. Hallowe'en. These kids grow as the evening progresses. It's bizarre when they are bigger than me & their voices are changing.
Your Apple is a marked improvement. Enjoy.
The federal government seems to like defecating in the faces of Canadians.
The Globe and Mail
"The Supreme Court's newest nominee already has an office amongst his colleagues despite the fact that his appointment is being contested in court.
Two sources tell The Canadian Press that Marc Nadon has an office at the Supreme Court building in Ottawa, even as his new neighbours are preparing to judge his case."
and
"Faced with an unprecedented challenge to the legitimacy of the latest appointment to Supreme Court, Justice Minister Peter MacKay is rewriting the law that governs such choices."
Is this the same Peter MacKay who was a failed External Affairs Minister and likewise at the Defence Ministry? Is he going for a perfect three?
This reminds me of L'il Abner and Dogpatch in the bosom of Arkansas.
"We don't need someone who thinks he's slumming."
There's that reverse snobbery of yours again.
