"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

We will not forget

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Our Town ====NOT":

Looks like a busy week. Forget about us.

**************

I  will not  forget .  You will be there with  me wheter you know it or not.

You used to say  " I don't  know  how you  make yourself go every week  knowing what's going to
happen"

I  went  because you  sent me.

At an inaugural , I said once:

"When I take  my seat , you will be there with me. In the waft and weave of my garments ,in every hair on my head and every fibre of my being."

It  may have seemed a bit over the top.

Yet  I needed to say what it meant to have been chosen.

It's no small thing.

It  kept me going all through those four years.

Had I not  been the  foil for jeers and sneers and snide remarks ---constant denigration  and humiliation-----there would have been a different  performance on your  T.V.

For everything ,there is a reason.

What  was done to me, was done to you.

I was your choice to be at the Council table.

How could they not understand  and respect your right to choose? The same right that chose them?

How could they not comprehend the  trust invested in them ----to behave honorably, fairly and with respect for all.

How could that translate into power to harm ?

Even after you withdrew your trust , it's not certain they understood.

They  continue to believe someone else was to blame  and you will discover your error.

You made no mistake in me.

I will not forget .

The ultimate sacrifice has been paid.

Respect is our due in this wonderful country.

We will uphold the right.

There are no good guys vs bad guys.
There are individuals elected to represent different views.
You are no better or worse than any other.
Everyone has a role. Everyone has a position to take, or make.
That is what democracy is all about.
Let us remember and honour that today, especially, Evelyn!

@12:19
" There are no good guys vs bad guys "
Do you live under a rock ?
No wars ?
It is for people like you that history books are written [ & please don't retreat with the quibble that history books are written by the victors ]
Until you personally have been involved in politics, you have no right to lecture those who have made the effort.

Throughout recorded history there have been good guys and bad. Wars have been fought because of this difference.

Today we remember them all, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Not only do we remember them, we honour them.

Because in death they have all paid the ultimate price, and through their deaths on many battlefields in countries around the world, over many thousands of years, we are able to stand silently for a minute or two and contemplate both their sacrifices and our very survival and existence.

I took it that 12:19 was referring to our present town council - not to every conflict in "recorded history."

For heaven's sake, 12:19. Get your your Blog and stop pissing on Evelyn's. This is not about YOU.

It must be disheartening for certain individuals to be aware that any resident requiring a refresher course can simply access the Citizen's files or Christopher Watt's archives. If that person is really motivated, all the legal Blogs and most of the mainstream newspapers covered the basics of the major event that started the entire process.......

OMG I am so delighted that discussion about the trees is on tape. Absolutely bizarre stuff !

Councillor Buck is a disappointment to Aurora. She cares only about staff. She does not care about the citizens of Aurora.

Buck you only care about town staff not the residents of Aurora! I'm a Leisure Complex user and resident of Aurora.

At the end of your loooong day, a very good Council meeting.

21:39…I guess you haven’t been following Evelyn’s Blog…If you had or followed any of her past God knows how many years in Town politics…you would know that your comment is ludicrous .

Wow Car you really don't know much about councillor Buck and who she cares about!

Now that was a interesting Council meeting. They don't come much better. I actually laughed out loud during the blame game about the property owner with the 3 now-to-go trees. It wasn't the Cllrs who created the costly lengthy mess. Oh, no, it was everyone else including staff, past Councils & the subdivision developer. Even at the end, Cllr Humfryes and Gaertner were voting to keep the poor trees and damn the consequences.

When Mayor Dawe brags about Aurora having $40 million in cash in Reserves, he seems to be appropriating the former Hydro Reserve Fund which is simply not his to dispense. It must be used in conjunction with ALL the residents for ALL the residents. He makes it sound as if it were the result of good fiscal management. That is true but the money was not generated by this Council.

Maybe the Car should stay in the garage after 10 at night. Perhaps a taxi ?

Councillor Gaertner
" ... that councillors are elected to do what the residents want. "
Please note the word ' want '
She says nothing abut what the residents might actually " need "
Huge difference

How do they explain to their families how they managed to get involved in so many legal battles ? Mine would be all over me.

We have to be grateful for Mr Weir/

Mascarin [ sp? ] didn't forget Aurora either. Some people expected him to be supportive. That looked like a big surprise.

Just a quick note hoping all is well with you. Have been paying attention to the suit and crossing my fingers and toes for you as my understanding it's drawing to an end. Miss reading your blog terribly.
