Twists and Turns

I was watching  Murdoch's Mysteries as I wrote  the last post.  It had all kinds of twists and turns.

Like a report to Council.   You never know where the input came from before it reaches Council.

Citizen Advisory Committees often make recommendations to include things in the budget.

The members are volunteers. It gives them moral suasion elected officials  don't have.

A  person could spend a lot of time sniffing things out and tracking things down. It's not particularly useful.

Staff recommended a Gold Standard for  energy conservation for the Joint Facility. Councillor Ballard made an amendment  to raise that  to Platinum Standard.

Well,  y'know. can't have one member more in favor of  conservation than another. It's a competition being green......so whamo... all but one in immediate support.

The design includes a green roof .

In the meantime, if we  gave the Rangers  notice to vacate the hydro building  and moved parks  back, we  could put $26 million back where it didn't come from

  4. 21:41 Public Works/Parks & Rec....You know the one that will cost a measly $26 million to build because the land that the Town purchased was crap.

My point was that you cannot award a structure yet to be approved with any kind of Standard. You might hope but that does not make it a reality.

  7. The ' kiddies ' as Morris called them don't spend much time around town. They touch base for a few events only. It was a rushed mistake to give them the tenancy. And this Council is following the same pattern of panicked decision-making.
