Watch for the strategy ...Feb 4th

Council did not embrace  the  fantasy island scheme though It seemed the proponents thought it would be a slam dunk.

First , armed with the Mayor's signature, they  went about asking people to  endorse the  plan.

It must have been around Thanksgiving. There was gobble-gabble and  a barrel of meaningless twaddle to herald the genius of it all.

Nothing in the way of hard facts and figures.

Two proponents had properties to sell.

Council's response to the group was to come back with evidence to show there was substance for anything  but successful unloading of two properties at a cost of millions t the taxpayers.

That's not what happened.

They went out one door and  obtained delegation  status at the Heritage Advisory
Committee. ..chaired by Councillor Abel with Councillor Humphrey ,

Out of the committee ,came a recommendation  for a feasibility study Nothing major.
Just have the Director of Recreation  take a look at it. Don't spend any  money.

That was  changed to the Special Projects Manager , Special Projects Planner in the CAO's office being assigned the task and $25,000. to spend on a feasibility study.

Undoubtedly, that;s what was meant by the commenter who wrote the Mayor is doing a fine job of getting things done, despite having  inherited a gong show for a Council.

On January 14th , Item 1 on the general committee agenda  was  Report 2014...001 of the CAO .
It was received by Council.

To be considered  at the committee meeting  tomorrow night, complete with authority for staff to  "negotiate " to buy the properties.

On January 14th I noticed  a degree of disgruntlement at the appearance of the report.

The report was received.

Since then , I believe each Councillor has been invited to submit to a  workover,

Another report has been forwarded to Council from the  Manager of Special Prpjects.

A new attack  is poised  for to-morrow night.

  1. Unfortunately we have had a few of these invasive, bullying demonstrations. Even more unfortunately, they have been known to work.

  2. I liked the "Dragon's Den" comment yesterday. I'm out! Ev...you can be the Kevin O'Leary in the group.

  3. I'm sorry. I don't have any trust left over.
And that is not aimed at any specific councillor.
Too many times there has been a complete reversal of votes.
The voting over the SAC fees to the town was particularly obvious with the outside pressure working.
There was even switching about that poor fellow's trees.
So I will watch tomorrow without any confidence at all.

  4. I think you might spot some of the same old faces working the audience. Nice to know it is your turn to control the clock to limit pontifications.

  5. I'm wondering if you have a big old stop-watch in a drawer somewhere.
