Subject: Petch House 

Mr. Mayor and Members of Council,
Colleagues,
Time is shrinking fast. Already it's too late for some projects. Too many  have ended unsatisfactorily despite Council's best efforts.

I would not normally resort to e-mail  but I am deeply concerned  about time shortage.

I made a list  of items that could see progress before our time is over.

Petch House is  the most obvious. A staff report is overdue. I  don't believe we can wait  longer. A decision  as to use  has been pending since late last summer. That cannot be
rationalized.

Placement of  electrical outlets and  wiring   and replacement of floor boards  await our decision.

Direction could be given on Tuesday  for a short  term lease  to be offered immediately .

A wedding chapel would be a perfect use.  A Wedding ceremoniy is short eliminating  the need for washrooms.

Opportunities for portrait photography  could not be better.  A fountain in the little pond
and a few heritage artifacts would  provide all that's required.

Catering ,reception , parking, all other facilities  in the Seniors Building. lend themselves to the project.

The building  has already been  used for wedding receptions.  No further investment is
needed .

A wedding chapel in the Petch  House would  perfect  the amenity. 

It's the best idea we've seen yet. We should make the decision onTuesday.

Last figures indicate funds exist in the original budget to complete the project

I look forward to Council support for the obvious.
