Petch House Wedding Chapel.
The house was twin to a Chapel (now in cottage country)
It's completely wired. Power is nearby.
Weddings don't take long. Washrooms not required. Flowers. A pond. A wee bridge could easily be built and a small gazebo for pictures.
The Senior's Centre . The wedding procession .
Lovely entry to the Seniors Centre. Balustraded deck at the rear.
A grand room room full of light and gleam. A great new catering kitchen.
Round tables. Comfortable chairs.
The Senior's Centre has hosted many happy events but the Petch House Wedding Chapel would surely make it the jewel in our crown.
The simplest of weddings could be a romantic dream come true and a home town memory for generations to come.
The last wedding in my family was at the United Church .Two grandchildren were christened wthere in dresses I made for them. Meghan was first . She and Jamie are Prom King and Queen at Dr. Williams High School graduation this year.
The Church, adorned with Banners set against the dark lustre of old wood of the alter and hanging from the gallery was beautiful and will always hold a place in our memory.
Wedding pictures were at Fairey Lake in Newmarket. Tip-toeing carefully around goose crap .Waiting in a line-up. Wedding guests waiting forever for the reception to begin.
The Petch House relic wasn't even sitting at the side of Leslie Street then . A year ago It wasn't restored on site yet either.
It's been there since last September and now it's June.
I defy anyone to come up with a better idea.
It's perfect.
An ad could be in the next edition of both newspapers. With an Offer to lease.
Our master carpenter could be drawing plans. We built a bridge across the Mackenzie Marsh. A very fine gazebo has already been crafted in the hydro building .
If minds were put to it we could be in business this week-end.
Petch house is complete. Spick and span and full of character awaiting a new destiny.
Waiting ....and waiting .... all of these months.
What the hell is that about?
Ah, you've been thinking about the weddings in Edwards' Gardens. Wonderful outdoors setting with plenty of locations for photo shoots. I see no reason why your idea should not at least be considered. From the lack of any report after the due date for ideas passed, I am assuming there were no others received.
ReplyDeleteI think at one stage Petch was considered too insignificant. All those dreams of high-ticket items drew the attention. Labs, Universities, Heritage Parks, etc etc. Perhaps now that a bit of reality has hit, such a plan as yours might merit attention. But don't count on it.
ReplyDeleteLove it Evelyn!
