The question about hydrants was answered for us completely. Thank you.
Choice of venue for the Mayor's Golf Tournament as I understand is as follows;
At the initiation of the Tournament ,Silver Lakes Golf Course was developed by an Aurora business group . Whether or not a contribution was made to the fund-raiser I do not know. It's a possibility.
I never had involvement in the fundraiser.
The Mayor's Golf Tournament is an illustration of how things change with time.
Average funds raised are around $45,000.
Groups receiving donations are extremely appreciative.
There was no Mayor's Golf Tournament in the last term.Success depends on willing contributors.
and significant commitment by a dedicated group.
No staff involvement or use of town resources is permitted. I know how it has been since 2003
Mayor's Tournaments are common in the GTA.
Markham's Mayor Scarpetti has a Foundation from which he distributes largesse.
Mayor Fennel of Brampton it seems has control of the funds which may prove a problem in the upcoming election.
I have serious misgivings about soliciting "donations" in the name of the Head of the decision-making body from developers and companies with contracts for supplies and services with the town.
At what point can the terms donatons and sponsorships be intercganged with bribes and kickbacks.
Back in the day, no such possibility would exist.
When the community needed to fund-raise for a particular project, an arm's length separate body was organised . There could be no hint or suggestion of hanky-panky , financial chicanery or any other type of miscreant behaviour.
It was the reason for a board was to govern and finance the Heritage and Culture Centre program.
Culture was never intended to be a burden on taxpayers . Seed money was to be provided at a reduced year each of the first three years with the objective of self-sufficiency at the end.
The principle was soon buried in the sands of time. a new Council and political ineptness.
There was so much enthusiasm for the new council.

ReplyDeleteNo it wasn't the question was: "What is the cost to taxpayers for the fire hydrant program that seems to be in place?"
