The blog will not be used to promote the idea all politicians are criminals and should be in jail.
Our Justice system doesn't even warrent that al prison inmates are criminals.
Any more than all doctors or lawyers or police officers or any other group that exercises power
over our lives are criminals and should be in jail because some among them exploit the power.
Politics is the only one called publicly to account on a regular basis.
It's how it has to be.
It's not easy nor to everyone's taste.
Those who volunteer to service should at least be deemed honest until .or unless.
ReplyDeleteThose who volunteer to serve should at least be deemed honest until or unless they are found to be guilty of an infraction.
They should then either resign or face the consequences if a criminal act has occurred.
There are too many borderline cases these days and neither of the above is occurring.
Possibly it's poor judgement or just plain stupidity.
When the provincial PC leader contacts the OPP Commissioner to make a complaint under the Criminal Code this is not something done lightly.
And if a major Canadian newspaper prints a major article on this subject I see no reason for the Blog to prevaricate.
I think that maybe social media has changed the way we view those in authority. Politics used to be in the news periodically when there was an election. Now it seems to be in one's face all the time.
ReplyDeleteOK - here's what might be a positive political story. It looks like there is a report on the council's agenda on the funding for ice storm damage.
ReplyDeleteA good evening not to be going out. Take care.
ReplyDeleteCouncil is not the same without you. I am hoping that there will be a Evelyn column in the New Year
ReplyDeleteOf course not ALL politicians are criminals and should go to jail, but..... some days it certainly seems like it.
ReplyDeleteWe know where some water is going. Its being deverted to King.

ReplyDeleteI assume you are trying to make some point about it not being available for Aurora.
So ?
Incorrect, water from our town 12:24.
DeleteSocial media has changed people’s views with those in authority because those in authority have lost respect for the people they serve and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteInteresting article Allison wrote in the Aurora. I'm surprised how shocked she was with the appointment of the regional chair. Any appointment in political office is always undemocratic. What she witnessed was a bad theatrical performance. She also indicated how we should all pay closer attention to regional meetings. Well she will also be disappointed with that process as well. In camera meetings are the norm in that council chamber.
ReplyDelete23:26 is she upset one of the "old boys" did not get it.
ReplyDelete4:28 - Emmerson is an old boy, and she said that she was shocked at the process, not upset.
