Hey! I just had an alarming thought.
If the activities of the militia contaminated the old shed in the town park... Will the same activities of the militia have already contaminated our hydro building?
Is that the secret of the lease that could be shared with staff but not the people's representatives?
Is that why they needed a thirty year lease?
What problems are being created for future residents of our town.?
While Aurora's high society attend high-priced fund-raising dinners to provide dress uniforms for the Rangers... Is there a less salubrious aspect to the activities of the militia?
What have they really been hiding from us?
It has been crystal clear for a long time now, that there are those in this town that are able to do what the hell they want, whenever the hell they want to at our expense and at the expense to future residents in Aurora.
ReplyDeleteThere is no rifle range at the Hydro Building.
ReplyDeleteThere was no live firing at the Armories since WWII.
Used ammo was only collected when it became a nuisance. It was only later that the environmental dangers became know. But you are right there was no range at the Hydro building. You will still find shooters using make-shift ranges in cottage country & not bothering to collect the shells, some of which get into the water. You cannot fix stupid.
ReplyDeleteEvelyn; while you most often publish insightful and researched posts creating healthy debate and discussion, I take exception with your comment "While Aurora's high society attend high-priced fund-raising dinners to provide dress uniforms for the Rangers... Is there a less salubrious aspect to the activities of the militia?"
ReplyDeleteUnless I am mistaken, I believe the event(s) you refer to are held to raise funds for veteran educational grants, "care packages" for those reservists currently deployed, and counselling support for those in need, among other worthy endeavours.
To have you belittle and incorrectly interpret these commendable events, detracts from your traditional level of respectfulness and honesty, in my opinion.
Thank you,
Matt Maddocks.
Matt,
ReplyDeleteEvelyn's comments about the QYR Association events are not new here.
The fact the QYR Assc. events have been tied to former counciller and current MPP Chris Ballard has made these events suspect to Ms Buck and her Buckeroos.
I have - multiple times - expressed my thoughts on how the negative posts about what the QYR Assc. does a disservice to those that they are being helped with these events.
The reality is that Ms Buck and 99.9% of those that agree with her have NEVER stepped foot in to the old armories when it was in use or the new armories now. They know nothing of what happens there.
The QYR appreciates your comments I am sure.

ReplyDeleteYour use of the negative " Buckeroos " shows exactly where your mind has become stuck.
Have a lovely day.
I don’t think anyone has a problem with fundraising for a cause they would like to support....as long as it’s not at the expense of all tax payers. I didn't hand over my tax money for any level of government to distribute to whoever they choose worthy of helping. I have NEVER stepped foot in the old armories or the new one for that matter, and have no intentions to either. Do I support my troops?....absolutely. Are they supported enough? Probably not…but then again what level of government supports anything enough? I’m a seniors advocate. My extra time and money goes to support them. That’s my choice.

ReplyDeleteYou are free to support any group that you like. You can give money to whomever you like.
However, don't tell me - or anyone - who I can give money or support to. And certainly don't make it a negative with names like "high society".
If it does not impact YOU - directly or indirectly - you have no right to be critical.
16:31- Like I said... As long as the funds they receive is not from my tax money that I hand over to the town....I personally don't care. As far as having the "right" to be critical... everyone has that right, just as you have the right to be critical of my comment.

ReplyDeleteName-calling from adults is offensive. It seldom wins an argument. Please note that most of those who tried to use that particular term as a weapon no longer have much say in town affairs.
19:39- I like being called a Buckaroo!

ReplyDeleteReal Buckeroos have little scooters and they travel in packs looking for lack of fiscal responsibility.

ReplyDeleteI think that you are being overly dramatic.
8:55- where do I sign up?
ReplyDelete00:19- In crayon?
