Appreciation from those receiving the contributions is the relevant factor. When a member of Council votes for a fee waiver or deferment of development levies and suggests massive returns they are
banking on the returns at election time.
It's all very fundamental and the reason politics are considered by many to be the second oldest profession. Shallow perception has become conventional wisdom
Leadership is at an all time low at every level and the future is murky.
Councillor Tom Mrakas has opened up a line of communication on Facebook.
I have seldom seen one that wasn't inviting.
After listening to all the blether about Saturday's Irish Referendum and last year's Scotttish Vote for Independence , I conclude it's a feature of old country culture not fully developed in Canada.
"The Great Gaels of Ireland ,the men whom God made mad,
For all their wars are merry and all their songs are sad."
Clubs are created over there for the intense and ferocious pleasure of argument.
My views do not jibe with Tom's but it's great that he puts his ideas forward Inherent risk and at the same time benefit, is the possibility of dialogue.
Long life and continued experience shapes my thinking.
I'm glad to read Chris Watts is spending time at the museum. I'm planning a visit myself.
Christopher says the old school is like a mausoleum. That's not how I pictured it. Council representation has changed. Maybe Councillors Mrakas and Kim should visit the facility themselves
to discover what's what.
C.C. Is celebrating a five year anniversaryrepresenting more than $3 millions spending on programming .I believe at least six people are employed on a full-time basis.
The Mayor of Richmond Hill has his own slush fund that he can dole out to who ever he chooses without councils consent. He's gone over that allotted budget every year. A councillor made a motion to have him pay every cent over the budgeted amount. He was voted down by the majority of councillors because the mayor did not personally gain financially from his gift giving of tax payers money. The same councillor took it to the integrity commissioner, and got the same ruling. What a shameful dishonest world of politics we all live in.
ReplyDeleteIf you do visit, they may try to sign you up for their summer camp which competes with the town's programming and may reduce the number of students employed during the holiday months by Aurora. It is also quite pricey.
ReplyDeleteDuring the election that removed MsMorris, we saw that catering to the Centre did not result in votes. Councillors can hope and risk rejection - that is their call but a rule to limit the freebies would be welcome.

ReplyDeleteThere is safety in numbers for those mayors. They point to the other guy & say he's doing it too.
It works until one of them loses. I really think Mr Gallo fudged his campaign by getting snarled in petty
details.
15:29, the summer art camps are for kids. Let me repeat; they are for children.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that some of us have moved on in the last 5 years, while, sadly, others have not...

18:38-When something is wrong...it's wrong. There is no moving on. You change it. And you don't stop until it's made right. Sadly there or those who just can't afford to roll over and accept more money being taken from their wallets.

ReplyDeleteI think, maybe, you missed a joke about E going to summer camp..............?

ReplyDeleteHumour is not it's bag. Especially about the center.
Not sure where to put this but Mr Watts has replied to our local troll about the emptiness in the Center with specific dates and times of various visits. Hard to argue with facts, Troll.
