ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "IT IS WHAT IT IS AND WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE":

The electorate or media can demand all they want from this new gov't. The fact remains with a majority they can do and spend whatever they like for the next four years.

My finger slipped again to reject the comment above.  i didn't want to lose it so I posted it here.

In theory, the comment is correct. A majority means a government can pass  any initiative.

In  practice, it's not that simple. Less so than ever before.

Mr. Trudeau has promised change. If he meant  from leader dominant, a greater role for M.P.s. may
be intended. Or a consultative process.

We don't know, do we?

What we know is what we don't know . It's a lot and much remains to be seen.

I remain convinced a new generation was involved in the last election. It may have been about electing Mr. Trudeau less than about not electing Mr.Harper.

Social media came into it's own and began to flex its muscle.

A u-tube, post or picture going viral here and there does have a salutary effect.

Government  institutions have never been so challenged.

Heck !!!  private institutions are no longer secure. i keep thinking how quickly the Royal Bank reversed itself when customers started closing accounts. Losing business certainly has  a salutary
effect.

That was the result of a long term experienced terminated employee posting on Facebook about having to train someone in India for his job at less pay while the Royal Bank was raking in billions in profits.

That certainly struck a chord.

I switched from Bell Telephone when I discovered I was talking to someone in India about over-billing on a long distance call. He had no authority to correct the error plus we were having trouble understanding each other.

Bell is no longer the Canadian Institution it once was.

For the country's sake, we should all hope Justin Trudeau and his government is successful in making a difference to our lives.

We  should not expect all promises to be kept.

But that will be his first problem.

    1. No more crap than any of the traditional media outlets. Tv, radio, newspapers and magazines.

If you were to call Bell now, you would hear that they are proudly Canadian and you are speaking to someone in Canada.

  3. Home mail delivery is low on the totem pole. It is not essential. There are other, life saving promises
that should take priority. We have lost at least 54 vets to suicide and veterans affairs is in shambles.
All the provinces and the north have elected members who all have concern from their people.

Let me guess; you live in a part of town that already had community mail boxes, right?
