"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

I MISS DAVID LETTERMAN

So, New Hampshire has made its choice. For Republican and Democrat nomination. The latter seems
to have the greatest support. Except Republican votes were split between six candidates.

Now there are four.

Carly what's- her -name cast the evil eye on Hillary on her way out the door.

She advised the young and women not to take advice about how to vote. Then advised them not to vote for Hillary.

I suspect other Sanders backers are masquerading Republicans with a method to their madness.

The media went berserk after New Hampshire votes were counted. Every possible conjugation was cited to give meaning to both elections and a few more that contribute nothing at all to the conclusion.

preponderance of the evidence is strange to us but some things are obvious.

Bernie Sanders has been successful in politics by not aligning himself with any party discipline.

It leaves him free as a bird to associate or disassociate, as suits the occasion

Sanders is no neophyte.

He knows the territory. He knows what to say to keep him on the popular side of every argument.

He risks nothing. In a fertile field it's  a winning strategy.

Not unfamiliar.

Clever if not courageous.

Calculated.

Harry Belafonte today speaks of support for someone who "cares deeply about our country"

Belafonte has spoken out before. But he has never offered to serve.

I tend to look for that as a sign of commitment.

Why has his name never been seen on a ballot?

You do love your conspiracy theories.

Apparently 2 other individuals are considering entering the race. Bloomberg and some guy called Webb, a former governor. This
is going to run for a looooong time. Unfortunately the Oregon Stand-0ff has ended so the American media is looking
for a new reality show,

Belafonte played a leading role in the Civil Rights movement.

Is that service not enough?

If Bloomberg enters the race it could change things. He is a multi billionaire, apparently worth at least two or three times Trump's net worth. He will be able to splash money around as if water. Having said that, Ross Perot, the Texas billionaire, tried this independent route without success. Although, it must be said that Perot added some fun and entertainment to the process with lines like, " I'm Ross, your the boss" and "Cut the grass or put out the trash - whatever the American people need".

These billionaires can be truly independent.

I miss the Stewart shows - sometimes he nailed a subject and there are a lot of candidates for nailing out there during
and election.

Perot was doing fine until he picked that senile old admiralty guy as his running mate.

As you know Evelyn. There are some who might want to serve but can't for a million different reasons. Some shouldn't either for the same number of reasons. Doesn't mean the can't make a difference in this crazy political world.

Sanders got about 13 delegates in that election, Clinton took around 15. I have no idea how that is possible but it seems to be
the way it works.

We cannot understand the American election system.
Neither can they.
