"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

ITS A WHIRLYGIG

It's 10.30 am. on Super Tuesday in the States. My TV is on and tuned to CNN.

I hate myself for it.

I still don't understand  the task of choosing a President.

Who needs this tension?

A headline running across the bottom of the screen declares  " Clinton plots strategy "

Why is that news? What else would she be doing?

And why choose  the word "plot" when "plan" means the same without an insinuation of evil?

I've turned the sound off so I don't hear the endless frantic speculation in nasal twing and rapid fire delivery.

Millions are at the polls  the text says but huge precincts are  shown with a single voter or none at all,  even as we are informed, cameras can't be taken into the polls. Maybe they mean some polls.

A difference of 3 hundred delegates exists between Democrats and Republicans.

What's that about ?

Yesterday, as a distraction, I watched a movie about an unmanned runaway train carrying tanks of volatile toxic material travelling through a densely populated area of Pennsylvania. The film was based on real life events and a story of unbelievable courage of a veteran engineer and a young greenhorn conductor. I fought back tears.

I like a good movie. I don't usually watch the Oscars. I did on Sunday. I was sure politics would
work its way in to the performance.

It did.

Now the  talk on TV is about Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan jumping in at the last minute if Trump wins the  Republican nomination.

Mitch MCConnell, leader of the House and Paul Ryan speaker of the house just made vehement statements of disavowal of David Duke ,the Grand Wizard of the KU Klux Klan. Who thought up that
name ?

Donald Trump failed the test when asked. He looked into the camera, lied in his teeth and said he didn't know David Duke.

It's said  Paul Ryan or another multi-millionaire might jump in at the last minute to stop Trump from
winning the Oval Office.

How can they do that ?

If everything depends on the number of delegates won, how can a last minute candidate get delegates?

Trump has hinted he would run as an Independent if they deny him the nomination.

When Jeb Bush announced he would "suspend" his candidacy, did that mean his name is still on a ballot ?  What about the rest of the original seventeen ?

So many questions; I keep listening for all to be revealed.  Democrats and Republicans having different rules ,it seems even Americans don't know what's going on.

Trump says he really loves  people without education. He is such a colossal cynic.

Some credit him with genius.  What genius ? He is no such thing. He's doing what no self-respecting politician would  but every single one knows the potential is there.  He stoops to the lowest level with calculated and dangerous intent.

Republicans set out to ensure that though an African-American could get elected to the Oval Office,
they would not allow him to govern and in that determination, set loose a fury against government the bellicose billionaire was quick to harness.

The votes are coming in.

I can't watch and write at the same time.

Even when I'm not sure what's really going on.

The ugly side of the Americans is on full display. It is always there lurking below the surface but this election and Trump have allowed it to surface.

I have no idea what is going on other than it is ugly.
One really disturbing note is that 4 million more republicans voted than democrats.
