The only people shocked and stunned are people like you, opponents. You were only hearing what you wanted to hear, not both sides of the issue being discussed. You thought it was a fait accompli your way, and it was nothing of the sort.

THAT ARGUMENT WOULD NOT HAVE WASHED IN 2011 AND IT WON'T WASH NOW.
Residents were watching and listening then.
Incredibly,it became apparent the newly elected Councillors had no idea of what had gone before.
They surfed in on the tide in a free ride to council seats.
All the crazy ideas floated since have established an amazing lack of comprehension of municipal
business and an equally astounding lack of interest in learning. Each one was focussed exclusively
on self.
Thousands of hours of staff time and $millions of resources have been poured into grandiose schemes; each crazier than the last.
The latest and most current, is to remove two lanes from Yonge for patios in the core so that people
can gulp down pollution with their ale outside those restaurants that don't have four or five steps up to enter.
Six years of serious discontent with grid-lock at Yonge and Wellington and the Mayor's idea of
progress is to remove two lanes to make room for patios. Who asked for it? I'll warrant somebody
did. The Mayor does not have ideas of his own.
Aurora has a traffic division that works away in the back rooms to keep traffic moving efficiently and parking that serves the purpose.
It seems pthe department, may be just for window dressing?
Councillor Mrakas has prepared a conceptual parking plan for the inner core.
Why is a Councillor designing a parking plan?
Who directed him to do so?
Councillor Mrakas is eager to accomplish things and that is to his credit. But he's spending his energy on stuff that's not his function, while stuff that is , never does get decided.
The Mayor obviously has friends to accommodate with alternate use for buildings that cannot be repurposed without utterly foolhardy expenditure. Millions of dollars.
Everybody sits quietly around the table waiting for him to get his ducks lined up.
Hundreds of commuter cars occupy every available spot in town, including Temperance Street parking lot, ten hours a day ,five days a week.
But Newmarket gets a new station outside their town. Not Aurora.
Hundreds of thousands of sq feet of retail assessment space has been turned over to non-taxpaying
public function to accomodate empty idle cars throughout business hours.
Nobody on Council talks about loss of municipal revenue.
Still the town spends millions, continuing to transfer land from the private, revenue earning sector, to the tax -absorbing public side of the ledger.
If the town was a bank ,the trustees would have padlocks and a little white notice on the doors
