"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

We are in the last year of the four year council term. The first two months, over already.

Candidate registrations will be received and closed in September and  election in November.

Business will wrap up in May, before summer recess and little  will be accomplished thereafter.

In terms of business completed and meeting hours left , this term is a done deal.

Quick ....without thinking   ...what was the most impressive feat of the term?

I started this post at New Year. Never got around to finishing it. Not being a member of council ,for purpose of the Blog, is like being ... a boat without a rudder .. a ship without a sail.

Comparing things Federally,Provincially,Regionally and Municipally with how they were and  are today
is not positive and I see no prospect  of improvement.

Patrick Brown's circumstance has degraded all of us to the lowest point yet.

If  there's a self-destruct button, I'd  say it's been pushed down hard and the finger is holding it.

A glimmer of hope did flicker in the political raiment. At the second to last Hollywood Award Show, just when I thought things could not get worse, Oprah Winfrey loomed large. She made a political speech which purpose was evident.

Oh My Lord!  I thought fervently. Could things get any worse?

And they  did. But just when the frenzy took hold ,the current occupant of the Oval Office opened
his mouth and spilled out something so vile, Oprah immediately slipped back into the shadows only
emerging  again to declare she would not be a candidate after all because she  doesn't have the "DNA". .. an odd term for a black person, considering theirs is the original.

Anyway...as can be seen..I am pre-occupied with the larger stage and depressed by the smaller .

It's like a three-ring circus.

I've found Facebook a satisfying outlet for what's on my mind. A site has been created for the history of the town I was born and raised. It's Pre-Christian. Photographs of places that no longer exist are posted .My memories are welcome and I'm more than happy to indulge myself.

A family site of a ninety-nine members came together in a matter of days from a single photograph of my great grandparents.I had heard of them. had never seen them. I have cousins in Georgia Philadelphia,Florida,New York, Colorado and California .Cousins in Scotland have joined the branches of the family tree. And most amazing , a cousin named Jan Lewandowski, has spent forty years of her life creating a family tree which has forty-thousand names on it. My own birth and marriage being part of the record.

So,  I haven't been writing the blog but I haven't given up writing. It has been an exciting time.

I have not gone away.
