  2. Questions for Evelyn

    1. What is the cost to taxpayers for the fire hydrant program that seems to be in place? They used to be yellow and they were painted grey primer and then red with black trim with reflectors attached. This is not everywhere but on the southwest it has been done for a couple of weeks. Why was this necessary and who did the work?

    2. Why is the Mayor's Golf Tournament being held at Silver Lakes GC in Bradford? We have a number of Aurora courses. Of course this is not Dawes' change, previous mayors did the same thing.

    Cut the lady some slack.
It is a holiday & the town has not yet managed to post the minutes of the last Council mtg.

Hydrant painting and charity golf tournaments? Yes, we are fortunate to be living in this wonderful town in this great country, aren't we?

    Happy Canada Day!

  7. It is good that the thunder held off. Should cool down tomorrow. Take care.

  8. About the fire hydrants … They need to be colour-coded (as to gallons per minute) and the preferred method is apparently to have a yellow barrel (the main body), with blue, green, orange, or red caps to indicate the pressure. Peel Region has found it cheaper to just have the reflectors in the different colours, rather than going to the great expense of repainting every few years (Google it). Maybe Aurora/York is doing the same?

A couple of years ago someone near me repainted the hydrant outside his newly renovated home in tasteful colours which toned with those of his new exterior. Didn't last!

Perhaps I erred in adding the questions to this thread. I wanted to pose some questions to Evelyn and this was the latest thread on the blog.

But you two feel the need to needle about this so, me culpa. I guess you have nothing better that be the vigilante blog poster.

  10. Anthony Pullano is pulling a bunch of underhanded tactics - he called the Police on my husband and I because he did not like the fact that we were challenging him on his 20 years in politics statements, and bashing a new comer for running for council. No threat was made, the police read the thread and confirmed they saw nothing close to a threat .... so here we go again.... more Gallo/Morris bs!!!!

How did he know it was you? If you are posting anonymously?

How does this relate to Gallo or Morris?

More hyperbole... must be an election year!

  12. The word "hyperbole" clearly needs to better understood,

  13. It was a twitter post between us which is not anonymous. And it relates to them because they too have used resources that were inappropriate, and costing the tax payer money! Where have you been for the past 4 years?????

I was 18:36 [ this gets confusing ] & was not being a vigilante except that I really wanted Evelyn to have some down-time. She carries the load for us.

Please do be careful. That man is running on " accountability " & has an ego the size of the town. He has just picked the wrong side in an election & soccer & will be looking for trouble.

Attending numerous schmooze-fest dinners over the years, and having your picture taken with photo-op-seeking politicians, isn't really being involved in politics, is it?

  20. Who bloody cares! So what if their pics get taken at events .... god forbid one is riding on the Neighbourhood Network float - how dare they be asked because they have been volunteering for them for over a year ..... good lord people perspective .....

  21. Did the Centre even bother with a float ?

    ReplyDelete
  22. The Auroran is up - almost

    ReplyDelete
  23. If it did, 19:12, I'm sure someone would complain about the use of taxpayer funds...

    ReplyDelete
  24. 20:34
And I would be one of those complaining.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What'd I tell ya?

    ReplyDelete
  26. 23:10- Well since you would like to see them in the parade…I’m sure they’d be quite happy for you to sponsor them personally next year. The center and the rest of the residents of Aurora will be grateful.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So they didn't trouble themselves

    ReplyDelete
  28. 20:34
Fielding a float need not be expensive. You just need someone with a flat-bed truck & a whole lot of imagination. I've seen girl guides & brownies do a great float. The Centre is supposed to be that hub of creativity - I figure they just didn't think about it.

  29. Why do we bother with a parade? Seems like a lot of expense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Well since you would like to see them in the parade"

Uh, I never said that. I just pointed out a predictable response to 19:12's comment.

  31. 13:29
Reading through the comments it seems to me that the Centre blew an opportunity to advertise and I think one of the items their head mentioned needed more work was getting people to be aware of their programming. No ?

    ReplyDelete
  32. 18:28, you initially brought "the Centre" into the thread (as 2 July 2014 19:12), so you tell me if you genuinely think they "blew an opportunity."

What I think is that where people like you are concerned, it's a case of 'damned if you do, and damned if you don't.'

  33. Maybe the new board of directors at the centre were lost....
