I Nearly Forgot

Something else I learned on Friday.

The town sells water to water haulage contractors. They fill pools and top up wells in the rural area.

Developers buy water from the town . New grass gets watered from water tanks.

Both  are commercial  interests. A rate is established. I haven't compared it with the rate home owners and town business pays.

Last year, income from  sales was about $43,000.

It is not included as revenue in the water budget.

It appears in the town budget as revenue offsetting expenditures. Reflecting positively on the tax burden. Not serving to reduce water rates charged to consumers.

  1. what about the contractors who don’t pay for water , like the one that was sucking from a non metered fire hydrant in the Brook Valley subdivision this past Friday evening at about 7pm, surely the millionaire developers who build those million $ homes can afford a bit of water to clean the millionaires streets.

  2. Councilor , what exactly are you saying here , that the amount of water sold to contractors is not deducted from the amount sold to metered customers, In other words are you saying that the Town is selling the same water twice ,once to the contractors and once to the metered customer.
    Please clarify
