"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

A Click In Error

The comment below was last received in my in-box this morning. I clicked on delete in error. So I had to bring it back  out of the delete box.

I completely believe Councillor Ballard is capable of writing the blog entitled  "Real Aurora Guy. If he didn't he would say so. Everything I hear about it reconciles  with positions he takes at Council.

I think it's great that he reveals himself like that. Too bad he didn't do it before he was elected.

Ka-non thinks Councillor Ballard not would be "so dumb" as to write the post.

Au contraire, mon ami. Upon what do you base your evidence ?

KA-NON has left a new comment on your post "No Help Required": Evelyn,
How can you (or your commenter) be sure that "RealAuroraGuy" is actually Cllr. Ballard?

People believe, perhaps rightly, that the original "AuroraGuy" was Cllr. Ballard. Whether or not that was true, this "RealAuroraGuy" is more likely to be an imposter.

This is a common ruse on Twitter, where anonymous people create handles that are close to the name of some famous person in order to make comical posts in someone elses name. Not to suggest that Cllr. Ballard is a "famous" person, but I have a feeling that this is just such an occasion.

I don't believe that it is possible that Cllr. Ballard would be so dumb as to make a posting like this when he is aware that people at least believe that he was the original "AuroraGuy", whether true or not.

A bit of skullduggery on the part of one of your posters I think Evelyn. Please don't allow yourself to be dragged into something so base.

It’s hard to imagine the extent of the hypocrisy of someone from the Macmor camp commenting anonymously while slinging political mud ! Surely Mr. Ballard and crew would never do that, but then again you never know. I wonder if Mr. Ballard would answer a direct question on that front ?

In my humble opinion, there is no apparent shortage of political hypocrisy in this town. Just look at Evelina McEachern’s letter in the Banner today. She slams the Mayor for defending himself in what she felt was an inappropriate way and yet this is the same former councillor that sent out an e-mail to all council telling Evelyn to get checked for mad cow disease ! That’s apparently not the only potentially perceived insult she slung while in office according to a number of witnesses, e-mails and councillors, but of course it all depends on your perspective and many will insist that they themselves have never done a thing wrong and all is fair in love and war.

Politics is clearly a dirty business, especially when you have people trying to claim the moral high ground while not being able to recognise the total hypocrisy of their own actions.

Not one of us. He isn't worth the effort.

Yes, there is a possibility that I am incorrect on the AuroraGuy vs RealAuroraGuy. If I am wrong I apologize to both Councilor Buck and Ballard. But reading his comments it did strike me as very similar to his comments in council chambers.

KA-NON,
it isn't 'base'. It is extremely funny and yes, my money says it is Ballard's work.

Sorry. It isn't going to wash out clean again. The Banner is Ballard's paper of choice. The wording is his. To deny it would be the same as when Morris claimed to have found an elephant on her own site and said someone bad had put it there.

I would not even attempt to identify anyone from a blog post as a person. We have seen other instances of mis-identification on the blogs that have come back to bite some in the ass.
