Put The Blame On Mame, Boys

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "CATASTROPHIC EVENT":

Gas rationing according to your car license, odd & even days, seems to be working. It is odd that the National Guard haven't been called in but there must be a solid reason.

***********
The National Guard were  on hand at the get-go.

It seems though Staten Island was cut off and isolated.

It would be extraordinary if  people were not stunned and  distraught under the circumstances. Eventually there may be bitterness when things sink in.

From a distance, except for the media, and Rudy Giuliani, I haven't seen any readiness to blame the catastrophe on  "the government"

Giuliani gained  an international profile in the aftermath of 911.

Probably his main contribution was to keep people calm and confident that things were under control when the opposite seemed to be true.

It's odd that  he would be the one to blame The President .

But maybe not.

  3. Hello Evelyn:

Just discovered something extremely interesting, actually fascinating.

There is a blog - "FiveThirtyEight" blog - that is run by a statistical whiz named Nate Silver. In the last presidential election four years ago he picked the winner in 49 out of 50 states.

His operation is akin to book-making and is determined by the constantly changing odds. The mathematics in this are incredible.

His services have been contracted by The New York Times.

When you look at his web-site the figures are mind boggling, and are published alongside all the major polling companies.

You might be interested in taking a look so you know the outcome of the US election before the votes have finished being cast.

  4. We are so fortunate and complacent living here. If Ontario were to be hit by disaster, we have no government in place to deal with it. Nor does anyone seem to care.

This is entirely false, misleading and fear-mongering. "Government" is more that the elected officials that sit in the legislature. The ministries and all government departments continue as normal. Even the MPPs that are Ministers continue to manage their departments. The only thing that is not going on is the legislature.
