Who Is It That Thinks He's Better?

The Toronto Star has become a paper of causes. ORNGE, Marineland, Rob Ford have all been in their sights. Some of the causes have some merit (ORNGE for example) but others, like Marineland, are without foundation but they continually hammer the subject.

Their crusade against Ford has been going on since before he was elected as Mayor. Since that time, the entire editorial board of The Star have been doing nothing but trying to discredit and bring him down. Idealogical differences are the root of their problem with him and to his credit he dismisses The Star for what it is.

I never read Royson James' columns for all of the same reasons that are listed in Evelyn's post. Ethicity aside (it should not matter that he tries to hide an accent nor that he is black), he is the poster child for The Star's editorial policy.

As far as coming from Etobicoke is concerned... I think of all of the former boroughs or cities in what is now Toronto, Etobicoke was the most fiscally sound. When you compare former mayors, Holyday could stand up to Lastman with no problem.

I used to get The Star home delivery because it came with a TV Guide-like magazine on Saturday. Now that they charge extra for that, I wonder why am I still paying for home delivery..... I really should re-consider it.

It doesn't matter that Royston James  is black or consciously trying to obscure his  place of origin. Who does that in Canada?
It   matters that he made sneering reference to Borough origins and rough edges of  Mayor  Ford, Former Mayor Doug Holyday and  Councillor Doug Ford. 
What kind of mindset thinks it's O.K.to denigrate people because of where they originate.
None of the  Toronto boroughs needed to take a back seat to the city. .
For years the City  was subsidized. 
Market value assessment was adopted everywhere else in the Province except Toronto.
Gracious homes in Rosedale and other elite neighbourhoods paid less  taxes than  ticky-tacky boxes in the suburbs and Aurora. Much less.
Regions  surrounding Toronto  were required to pay  millions for  social services in Toronto, accessible  only to Toronto residents. 
Successive  provincial governments and The Toronto Star turned  a blind eye  because it was politically convenient to do so. 
They are in no position to look down long  drippy noses at any other  community.
They have an ethics code in place as well. 
Sheer Hypocrisy!
