Premature jollification

I do not yet know how  to cut and copy on I-pad.  So I must make the reference.
A comment yesterday pictured Mormac crew  dancing in the streets over a perceived  Dawe error;
near  acceptance of a citizen committee recommendation reflecting neither judgement   nor discernment  to be of benefit to the Mayor alone.
The Mormac crew never understood the community they  were elected to serve.
Their idea of smarts was to cater to vested interests then vested interests would  cater to them.
They never  realized a trust  betrayed is never again bestowed.
Since day one of this term, battle lines have been drawn.
Councillors Gaertner ,Ballard and most often Councillor  Gallo have been aligned. Councillor
Humfryes often seems to have  a crisis of loyalty.
The  group's objective is obvious; to ensure lack of success for this Council.
They  often get help from the Mayor himself.
For a seasoned politician  it is a terrible thing to behold.
An item on last week's agenda is an example .
A consultant fee of $60,000. plus  was spent  for an inventory of the museum collection in the ownership of the Historical Society.
Unlike most consultant  fees, the money was well spent. The report was complete .Work was ready to proceed. Space, although inadequate, is available in the Church Street museum under the new agreement.
Councillors Gallo,Gaertner and Ballard  voted to stall the process.
Mayor Dawe and Councillor Pirri added their vote to make it a majority.
There will be no further progress until a culture master plan is complete,if then.
Considering  work and funds already invested , that the Mayor would join his sworn enemies  to sabotage the project is ,from my perspective, inexplicable
Mormac's alliance have apparently decided to adopt new tactics.
Letters to the editor  are clearly part of strategy.
Catherine Marshall is  a member of the  Mormac alliance.
The lady's  gratuitous attack on former Councillor Collins Mrakas would hardly win friends and influence enemies.
Merits of an argument are at least as relevant as seeing it in print.
An argument without merit is a deficit
Our current Mayor was elected despite zero experience.
 It has never happened before.
It should not happen again.
It would  not have happened  then without desperate need for change .
A massive effort on the part of manywas required.
There can be no forecast of who might be the next Mayor of Aurora.
But I would place money on  one who will not despite all their efforts and combined
intellect.

  1. Well, both Councillor Gallo and Councillor Ballard took a direct hit in the Auroran. Residents are capable of doing the math about what their rudeness may have cost Aurora. And no letter-writing can put that right for them. Another own goal scored by our goof-balls.

  2. They really like to see their names - and photos- in the papers. Maybe on the theory that any publicity must be good for them. It would appear that they plan to run Miz Kelly of the Banner for Council. She is busily up-dating her photo portfolio with shots of the family.

  3. May I suggest that Catherine's unprovoked attack on Alison was not just politics as usual? It sounded more like a petty hissy-fit because Alison can look good without spending an hour or so on make-up and ward-robe. Just an observation from watching the two of them.

You not alone, the only problem is the odds will be dreadful , shes a certain shoe-in for another dismal showing at the polls should she get the notion to try it again!

  5. Yes Ms Marshall, a resident, signed her name. She's a nice reserved lady.

However it would appear, someone quite familiar with Council, and procedure, perhaps a clowncillor, with a grudge, was the author of the long winded, confusing attack.

    This bullying looks familiar.

  6. Evelyn:

It's in part your fault that these creatures continue to exist.

The best and most proven effective way to rid ourselves of this plague is to simply NOT MENTION them.

They will shrivel up and turn to dust.

  7. Well said Evelyn. It must be very hard to know full well what is going on and to have front row seats to witnessing political hypocrisy unfold.

I have to wonder if the general public know that some people continue to try and present themselves as being our local government's moral authority despite the fact that their actions that would suggest to many of us that they have one foot firmly planted in the gutter.

The next election is going to be something to behold. Do you think that Phyllis is going to come over and try and shake your hand in public as a gesture of her good will towards all council members and her openness to other opinions or did she learn from her attempt to spin her legacy during the last election, when the audience groaned and burst out laughing ?

  8. As much as I would like to agree with the comment made at 6:54 PM I think that there is a very real danger in not countering what one feels is politically motivated nonsense. If the public is fed crap and buys it without knowing better, we could end up with crappy results.

If Ms Marshall is such a ' nice reserved lady ", why does her name appear on repeated letters to the Auroran lecturing all and sundry? There was one really weird one in which she was ' looking forward ' to Morris' trial date when she would defeat her fearful enemies. Hope she wasn't holding her breath. The local residents she sued took that round handily. Still cost them& the town.

  11. Did anyone else notice the attempt last night to create a tiered Council? If you have independent means & take a course or attemd a conference, you get a pat on the back. If you have no such means & ask the town to provide the funds, your name gets posted on the town website where you appear to be a spend-thrift of town money. Makes you a perfect target in an election.

  12. 10:12 is using the same argument that is used to fight things like codes of ethics.

Tired old arguments against changing the status quo because you're afraid of what might get dug up.

  13. What IS the hesitancy to display artifacts of historical significance?
Could someone please clarify once and for all...master plan, consultants etc be dammed! Let's have the real deal.
