"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "IN OUR OWN TIMES":

Evelyn, I suppose if you have to pick the one with most experience, it would be Hillary. But she represents the old establishment. Based on the numbers that Trump is getting, I believe the American people are done with the same ole same ole. Just look at what happened up here. Canadians chose someone with no experience and really has never worked. People were done with Harper and the old
Establishment.

********************************************************
"What has been, will be again, what will be done has been done. There is nothing new under the sun."
Ecclesiastes: 1:9

In the debate that raised the trade deal and  bail out for the auto industry, the reference was to a time when Hillary Clinton was in office. Not recently.

Senator Bernie Sanders accused the Secretary of being dishonest in making the reference.

He was not accused .A fact was stated. He acknowledged his vote against the Bill that included the bailout for the auto industry

Because, he explained,  it included bailout for the banks.

Yet he was the one to accuse. And the young and trusting listening to him believed what he said.

He's done it before. Repeated reference  to speeches insinuating something improper  is hardly kosher. If he knows something why doesn't he spit it out?

It's an old political dirty trick. Not fresh or new. It's sly and calculating. Same ole ,same ole.

Unlike the Senator, Hillary Clinton has never accused him of dishonesty but merely reminded him of positions taken and votes cast.

The races  is Democrat versus Republican.

He is Sanderson, Independent Senator, looking out for himself and devil take the consequences.

The Bellicose Billionaire, claiming Republican status, has similarly attacked the Democratic candidate.

More than slight irony dwells in the unwholesome similarities between the Senator and  Bullyboy.

Whatever may be said about either;  fresh, new approach to government, is not the quality that comes first to mind.

The late Honorable Robert Stanfield was said to be the best Prime Minister Canada never had.

He succeeded John Diefenbaker as leader of the old traditional Progressive Conservative Party at a time when there was nought to chose between Liberals and Conservatives.

Lack of choice led to a third political organisation , the New Democratic Party.

Mr. Stanfield was quoted :

"If you're  not a socialist when you're young , there's something wrong with your heart. If you're still a socialist when you're  thirty, there's something wrong with your head"

Senator Sanders is seventy-five years old. He has made a career of politics. He is no greenhorn with fresh new ideas.

Trump and the Senator are brothers under the skin. They are both blatant opportunists.

Hillary is the one fighting for a New Deal for the people.

Too bad these things go on for such an extended period. The Americans get more frothy by the day. This is not the year to take your family south during the March break.

The veneer, if there ever was one, is wearing off on Mr trump and his campaign.
His supporters are beginning house the license he has seemed to die them to physically go after those
who disagree with them.

I read that Carson is going to endorse Trump. I guess he sees himself as the Surgeon- General.

23:59 - Those type of appointments happen on both sides of the fence since the beginning of time, all over the world, including in our own backyard.

Of course. It was just an observation.
The difference this time appears to be that some of the supporters are packing heat. There WILL be trouble.

11:56 - I would be too if I lived there. Scary times in the US

I do not see what Sanders expects out of all this. He isn't likely to win and it isn't going to make him rich or even young again.

16:42- As long as their campaign is funded and not running a debt, they have a lot to gain. They are self promoting themselves for future positions, politically and privately.

Sanders ?

Weird. Trump is blaming Sanders for the disruptions at his events. One would think the protesters could be from Clinton or one of his republican competitors just as easily. Heck, he could have set them up himself like with his wrestling matches.

13:40 "This is not the year to take your family south during the March break."

Other than the state of the Canadian dollar vs. the US dollar, why would this be the case? Really, I was just in North Carolina two weeks ago and the people that I dealt with are not really talking about any of this. What is there to be afraid of now that was not there before?

I would challenge you on that statement about people in N Caro not talking about this.
Those I know may not be talking about it to YOU. They are very unhappy. Both sides of the messy business.

10:48 Challenge away... I was there talking to them... these are business people trying to get work done.. they are intelligent enough to see through the media hype (on both sides).

I was in Florida at the beginning of the month. They're talking about it alright, talking and laughing at the same time. Only 2 originally from Florida they others were from different states along the east coast. They asked about our new leader as well, while laughing. All are expecting a worse economy whoever gets voted in. All agree that the quality of candidates are terrible.

I find that Americans envy us at this moment. I sure don't envy them one little bit.

Arm bands on the Trump thugs.

3:15- There's thugs on all sides. There always are in every election. I do enjoy everyone pointing fingers. Drama, Drama, Drama

Watching the US now is akin to seeing a snake swallow a frog. Fascinating but sickening too.

I think I have watched a fair cross-section & have only heard one candidate say he/she would like to punch someone in the face.
And, as a follow-up, if I have it right, express a desire to pay the expenses of person who ' sucker-punched ' a protestor. To me, that is not usual behaviour.
