"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

McCAIN'S CONSIDERED VIEW

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE":

Mr. McCain stated that it would be foolish to ignore the choice of millions of GOP voters.

****************************************

Which millions is he talking about...the millions who voted for the bucolic clown or the greater millions who didn't ?

With all his legendary status, how could John MCCain blunder so badly. First in  choice of running-mate and now in advice to sober-minded Republicans.

Could  some of the things said of him eight years ago  be true, during  his bid for the Office of President, about how he might have contrived his comfortable personal financial circumstances ?

But Sarah Palin for Vice President ?   How could anyone of intelligence exercise such appalling  judgement.

Sarah Palin almost single-handed, has since been responsible for the development of the tea party that split the Republican Party.  Alaska wasn't big enough to hold her after she hit the national  stage.

Sarah Palin set the scene for the Ugly American to take center stage.

Sarah Palin who became a central theme of comedic satire almost since the moment of her ascent to prominence, thanks to John McCain.

John Mc Cain was never so transformed as to reveal his complete lack of substance.

The term "wimp " could  have been coined to describe just such a personality.

Or to be more succinct, non-personality.

In the back of my mind he is still an old fashioned hero who just got behind once he was caught up in politics.
But, yes, the selection of Pallin was cynical and short-sighted.
Goodness knows who Trump will select - he doesn't like to share the spotlight with anyone, even his wife.

Evelyn, Millions did vote for Trump and there are millions who didn't. McCain is correct. There were millions that voted for Trump and to ignore this side of the Republican party would be foolish. It would also be foolish for the Democrats to ignore them as well. People are coming out in droves to exercise their right to vote and have their say. Just wish Canadians would be as engaged in our own politics.
