I am sure the pet burial ground is one of the few things that did not require a costly study and surveys. If it becomes a reality, they would be a good thing and harm no one.
For the rest of the items currently under talk/discussion/ I expect more of the same nonsense. But it is getting late in the 2 term
period to actually DO something with all the consultants work.
At least the town did not purchase Hallmark - or maybe we did.

Yes we did.
The property was initially listed, building and 13 acres of land, at I believe, $17 million.
The town was at the point of deciding on an inappropriate location and development of a joint facility for parks and works departments on the worst curve of Industrial Parkway North. An alternate potential purchase of the Hallmark property was not considered . Certainly there were arguments pro and con.
The property sold for $11.5 million.
The land was severed and offered for sale . Then the town bought the land for $11.5 million.
Yep..that's right.
Now Sport Aurora, a commercial operation with members from throughout the surrounding region is requesting Aurora lease the building at taxpayers expense , for all season facilities for organizations represented by Sport Aurora and regions around, Including the $ multi- million commercial soccer organization.
The idea may not have been rejected.
It may not be in the best interest of the town but should be good for votes in the next election.
Then we have the Leaning Shack of Contamination on Larmont Street. We handed over $550,000
for that pile.
Meanwhile, 640 sq,ft of the Petch House, has been referred to consultants to advise our vigorous and imaginative Council what to do with properties acquired by this Council and redundant buildings
on Victoria Street, left pending since a mid-nineties council administration. .
The joint facility has a complete floor of new-build excess space for which currently no use is determined. While a few dozen features had to be cut because of insufficient funds.
I an see another "Service" the Town will be paying for at the Hallmark building. Gotta love these private "partnerships" governments talk about all the time. The SCC set themselves up with a sweet deal, now hear we go again with another one.
ReplyDeleteGood Grief, I was hoping that they didn't add that to their " land bank "
ReplyDeletePox on em all, have a great day.

ReplyDeleteIf they had any brains they would have welcomed the medical pot grow up folks.
But so far the old library building still stands and there Still is no designated use for Petch.
12:51- Now that would have made this Town a destination!
ReplyDeleteApparently, there is a medical marijuana company in town, over on the old part of Edward St.
