"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

POLITICS IS ABOUT DIFFERENCES

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "DETAILS REQUESTED":

"The Pet Cemetery would be nice too. The little things do matter."

Matters to whom? Really. Do we need to spend ANY public funds on something so crazy as that?

***************************

No public funds have been spent on the Pet Cemetery.

I suppose it should not be a surprise to find people reading the blog with  little patience for what they read.

Last week I received a five paragraph comment from someone who had decided to remove my "monotonous" blog from his/her computer, then proceeded to discuss the  monotonous American election before telling me how bored I must be.

I don't publish every commentI receive and I don't agree with every comment I publish.

We are not deciding the fate of the world here. Nor the fate of anything else either for that matter.

We are just engaging in conversation, hopefully recognizing and respecting everyone's right to have
an opinion Bearing no ill will.

It's interesting to  know what other people think .

Now that every Tom Dick and Evelyn Mary has access to the printed word. It's  quite hair-raising at times.

These are early days for the Internet.

My friend Cynthia Proctor is a Trump supporter. I go in there  occasionally and wave my sword about a bit.

Councillor Tom Mrakas uses Facebook to let people know where he is at. It's an irresistible invitation to take issue

It's not hostile. It's mental exercise to think of  different angles of the same issue.

There are always different angles.

If politics means anything at all in our lives, it's about the fact there are different angles.

Doesn't the Town of Aurora now own the land that the pet cemetery occupies? How much did that cost?

Also, the recent documenting of headstones and graves was conducted under the auspices of the Aurora Museum & Archives. Town Staff's time, as you often point out, isn't cheap (although the use of volunteers helped).

Love this Blog Evelyn! And respect all your thoughts and opinions. I generally am in total agreement of all you write in regards to politics, but I have to say....your supprt of Hillary has thrown me for a loop, but I keep reading with interest.I will always keep reading your blog. I do love when you write about your life as a little girl in Scotland. Those posts are magical. Thank you again for all that you do.

The cemetery was an idea by residents just around the time Dawe was elected the first time. Cllr Abel promised to run with it- he did not do so. It has not cost a lot of money, nothing like some of the more photo op projects. No one should be offended by recognition of a gift to animal lovers from Dr Secord so long ago.

How much is 'not a lot'? What was the purchase price of the land, for instance?
