"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Politics Defined ...

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Another Piece Of The Puzzle":

From the outside, this appears to be a populist movement and utterly spontaneous. Can someone from Georgina assure us that no individual is driving this activity who has a political axe to grind. We Aurorans have learned to be cautious about motivation. Since we do not know who your political personalities are, it would be nice to feel we are seeing the full picture as events move forward. Everyone up there got clean hands ?

************

What do you mean? Does everyone up there have clean hands? What is it you don't understand?

How do you define politics ?

If the current Georgina Council is unable to restore faith with the residents of  Georgina  before the next election, what  would you propose to remedy the community's  discontent.

Candidates do not defeat themselves. Particularly incumbents..

Citizens must come forward and offer to serve.  To effect change, new councillors must  be elected to replace  incumbents.

It's how the system works. It's not perfect, as has been said before, but it's the best there is.

Georgina should hope there are citizens who care enough and are sufficiently outraged to be willing to step forward.

Do it in  good faith and in time  for  names, faces and character to become familiar.  To ensure against  lurking opportunists  with nothing to commend them but  the  community's failed confidence in the current leaders.

There is no disgrace in backing one's convictions with willingness to serve. There is work to be done.

Without a doubt, organisers of the public forum have leaders among them.

We saw what Morris did with a smiling face and open appearance. Don't blame us if we suspect someone of having a vested interest. Interest is fine, the question for Georgina is if they are secure and happy with what is going on. I think they are but there is no harm in asking if they see the usual suspects since we have no way to identify them from Aurora. How would we be able to identify defeated candidates with grudges ? Ease up, it was a question for them, not you. You don't need to convince us; they need to be sure of themselves.

" lurking opportunists " Who better to identify that than Georgians. Which was the question,. I think. Is there someone who will move earth to remove Grossi rather that the populace. Otherwise we're good to go.

Guesstimates of legal costs for Georgina for the failed lawsuit range around $20,000. What we do not know is whether the outside lawyers have actually departed the scene or if the meter is still ticking.

Interesting. Tracy Kibble the Regional Editor for Metroland used to work for the Era-Banner. Co-incidence? She is the one who wrote to support Mayor Grossi. So far the only support I can find.

How is that a co-incidence? Metroland owns the Era-Banner.

Oh my God!!!! We better call the OPP to investigate this. How dare two newspapers employ the same person on their editorial board.

That is worse than having a newspaper editor a sitting councillor. or A sitting councillor that uses the newspaper to further their postion through letters to the editor.

I think we need to level the entire Aurora infrastructure and start over.
