Ration your use of Times
articles, Evelyn. When you hit 10, the hammer falls. We tried to explain about a
computer on the blink and they weren't having any of it.

Everyone knows I am a social media neophyte. But I have the comfort of knowing I am not alone.
Does reading the New York Times mean "using" and a "hit".that brings down the hammer after the number 10.
Or is it making a reference to an article in the New York Times.
If it does, when does the number 10 kick in?
I watched "The President's Men " last night.A classic film.
Robert Redford ,Dustin Hoffman and a cast of excellence.
A scene shows Redford and Hoffman walking side by side through the newsroom .
Redford took long measured strides, Hoffman short quick steps.
There wasn't much difference in their height.
As there isn't between Obama and Romney.
Hoffman's character was chain-smoking, agitated ,notes on multiple paper scraps, shoved into pockets everywhere
Redford was the calm organised, clean and tidy, intense thinker.
I was at a conference in Niagara Falls with my family when the news came that President Nixon would resign.
We drove. listening to the car radio, to be in The States at Seneca Falls for the historic event. While we watched on television, the kids were outside in a heated pool floodlit on the inside walls .
Nixon made the comment. the media wouldn't have him to kick around any more.
Always ready to blame others for scandal created by himself alone. Does that sound like someone we know?
I just read a news story about Conrad Black fighting to keep his Order of Canada. The Order has been taken away from others for
reprehensible behaviour.
Better they were never given than shown to be so meaningless.
How can a jail bird hold the Order of Canada.
Puts the whole concept into disrepute.
You can get around it by having a friend who isn't interested in such things get you a copy on their computer. I would send Maureen to you but I don't know how. Maybe you shouldn't read it - the misery is clear in her voice.
ReplyDeleteThere you have it in a nutshell. I totally agree with Mr Watts about Lord Black's personality. But I think he should be allowed to remain in Canada. His wife's health is fragile and she has paid a heavy price for him.
ReplyDeleteRe Conrad Black, it strikes me that many other wealthy men such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffetuse a great deal of their wealth for good.
ReplyDeleteOur Conrad seems to be obsessive about spending most of his money on trying to convince us that he was "done wrong" in being duly convicted of a feloney.
Such narcissism and self-indulgence is so sad. He is a midget among wealthy men.
I hope he is stripped of his Order of Canada and his peerage in the UK and never regains his Canadian citizenship.
He is a blight on our national landscape and a shameful excuse for a man.

ReplyDeleteNo need to feel sorry for her. I am sure she still has the tens of thousands (or perhaps it was even hundreds of thousands) of dollars to indulge herself and squander on a lavish birthday party before he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Also don't forget that she too has a venomous tongue.
Not feeling sorry for her. Just stating facts. No need to keep beating the same dead horse. They aren't going to be a cost to the government.
