"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Memory...Peculiar to the owner thereoff

Recently I was told I have a phenomenal memory.  It's been said before. I think it must be true.

The thing is, mine is the only memory I know. I've never thought it was different.

It explains why I might have had unreal expectations over the years. Particularly with my late  husband. If he didn't remember things the way I did I thought he was deliberately trying to annoy me.

It must have made me difficult to live with.

This is not a lament or a confession.

A good memory is an asset, no doubt about that. It's not perfect re-call.

I think maybe  the greatest advantage is being able to  connect the dots and string happenings together  ending  with a picture spanning a long period.

Kind of like a  gigantic mentally completed  jigsaw puzzle.

The challenge in politics lies in  getting other people to see what's in my head. They don't have to.

Council has been receiving a steady stream of e-mails  from neighbors of Wethersfield Court  over the last three days,

A bus parked in a  driveway is bigger than  zoning permits.

Neighbors  complained.

Owner  applied for a variance to the Committee of Adjustment.

Variance denied..

OMB appeal triggered.

Neighbors feel the town should  support their position at the OMB and have  bus removed forthwith.

I've been  responding with reasons why I can't  support that.

The CofA and OMB have been in place since Zoning.

Takes decisions out of  the political.

I think that's a good thing.

Over the week-end I will re-tell  the story  again about the Petlovany property  complete with sequel, before Council tackles the decision about building a Joint Use facility  in  a ravine nearby

People are just plain strange. First you get a ganglet demanding that someone not remove trees on his own property & then another bunch insisting on the removal of an item. This is the stuff our council thrives upon. I await with great anticipation the day when they tell Frank Stronach how to develop his legacy.

When town residents still had jobs driving Aurora's school buses there were buses scattered throughout the town. No one made a peep. It was good to know that the driver actually was familiar with which kids came from which residence. And was capable to figuring out when the roads were safe. There were far fewer' snow days ' and accidents.

Thumbs Up for your memory, Evelyn.
I understand that there are past councillors. And a couple of current ones. To whom just the last Council's
activities seem to have passed in a blur.

Let me see now:

1. The bus is bigger than the zoning permits.

2. Bylaws are enforced through complaints.

3. Owner appealed - via variance - denied

4. Owner appealed to OMB - tbd

How is this offence against a bylaw different than the offence during the summer with the development/tree cutting off of Yonge St. south?

It would seem to me that if the matter is before the OMB, the zoning is still valid and should be enforceable.

Why not get a truck out there and tow it away? Use the same one that was put across the driveway.

That truck across the driveway worked real well, No ?

Yes 13:40 it worked really well.Do you know why they acted that way.Well ask the councilors about the photos sent to them just before the vote on the proposed adjacent development.

Piffle. Those trees came down. You just miss the night shifts.

Why is council even being hectored ? It sounds like the matter is before the OMB. Let due process take place. One resident versus neighbours= the neighbours can afford the cost. Aurora already is paying the price for playing the legal card all the time in the past. Heaven knows what got spent trying to block West Hill. They just grinned, waited & adjusted their home prices, One has to pick fights with care.

Maybe it's the Partridge Family

I remember when a man in the city painted his house blue. He was some type of artiste. His neighbours went ballistic. Great fun to watch.

Thank you for putting up with us, E. I hope you managed to get caught up on some sleep.

Cllr Gaertner
Questioning how many complaints there had been about an entire park that badly needs the equipment improved:
" Council has to be very careful not to give too much attention to a few residents who feel they might have a problem "
I might have got a word or two wrong.....but the meaning is quite clear.
