"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

An Appeal

Good afternoon everyone,

In follow-up to the July 16th Town Hall meeting, the Aurora U9 Stinger Girls, and BMO’s Team of the Week winners, presented to Town Council the opportunities that lay ahead should the Team become the BMO Team of the Week Champions.

That “Championship” status, when they win, will see a $125,000.00 field refurbishment that would benefit thousands of future Aurora soccer players, athletes and visiting teams.  It will see a $5000.00 charitable donation be given to a very special cause and it will give this Team the opportunity to partake in a National Game that they all hold very close to their hearts.

However, to get to that status it takes an enormous mount of votes.  The Team worked extremely hard, this pasted long weekend, as they “kicked off’ the start of a two week daily voting campaign.  Upper Canada Mall’s GM, Robert Horst, was so impressed by the sheer determination possessed by these girls he tweeted to his 5000+ UCM followers to start their registration at www.bmosoccer.com and submit their daily votes until Aug 19th!

We are hopeful that our Town’s Municipal representatives and local MPP’s will join this crusade by helping support the daily voting and spreading the word to others in any way possible!  These 12 eager winning faces are looking forward to making their Club, the Town of Aurora, the City of York Region and the City of Toronto proud!

Please help them put Aurora on the “Best Place to Play Soccer” map and make the Townsesquicentennial one to remember!

With the utmost appreciation,

The Aurora U9 Stinger Girls

This is not Town business! Why do you put up with it?

It's nice to see such community-minded folk like 07:47 amongst our fellow blog readers.

12:14... nice to see that you pay attention to the clock, too bad it's not accurate.

However, the Blog's host has an issue with community groups hijacking council meetings, how can this appeal from a community group be any different? And don't tell me it's different because this is not The Town; well, it's called "Our Town and its Business"!!!
