Why did you feel your contribution needed to be accompanied by a scolding for moi?
The point of my post was not the history of Switzerland, noble though it may be. It was how phobic our age seems to have become about imaginary slurs and insults.
This week I confess to an opinion that top level staff who earn their living in public service in this community ought to live here with us.
Since none of them do ,the question is academic.
But I am immediately accused of bias . My view on the matter is compared to cars in a parking lot.
What is that about?
I write another opinion and a reader demands I write a learned journal on the subject.
It's only a topic of conversation .

Another topic of conversation much in the news recently.
Prime Minister Harper and Industry Minister Moore might be left at the alter as the groom decides to go after "big game," leaving BCE, Rogers and Telus, the three bridesmaids, grinning from ear to ear.
According to a BREAKING NEWS article in the Wall Street Journal, Verizon and Vodaphone have apparently rekindled talks on a deal that could be in the range of $100billion - $130billion, whereby Verizon would buy out the 45% stake Vodaphone has in their U.S. joint venture.
This would probably be of far greater interest to Verizon than entering the Canadian wireless market - small potatoes in comparison.
Verizon has been in talks with major banks to raise up to $60billion in cash for a combined cash and share deal. One of the motivating factors is the increasing interest rate. Every 1% on a borrowing of this amount equals $600million.
It will be interesting to see whether this buyout goes ahead and what our august leaders might have to say when they see federal government wireless communications policy effectively left in the dust. Alternatively they could sweeten the pot for Verizon and pay them a huge amount to come north; this might not play well with taxpayers.
