"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

A Day in the Life Of

The  bronchitis is back. Got a prescription today.

Two tablets every  twelve hours.

Have to wait until ten o'clock  so the repeat isn't during the night.

In the meantime, talking brings on coughing.

I have two puffers. They seem such silly  things. I can't believe I'm doing it right.

When I was on my way out,  a man saw me brushing  the snow off my car,  stopped and said

"Here let me do that . Get in the car and make yourself comfortable."

Thank you, Chris Moffat

One of the best things living in Aurora I remember, especially growing up in Regency Acres, was the neighborliness of people. Weather it be shoveling snow or helping others in times of need.

Try to take a day off. Not sure if that is genetically possible for you but worth a shot. Read ?

Noticed a big white dump truck yesterday (Monday) with plow and side wing in the Yonge St. and Golf Links area. The truck was marked Trisan.

I assume it was contracted by the Town for plowing. Either I am being more alert or there are more contracted vehicles doing snow clearing work. Without trying, I have noticed sidewalk plowing/sanding tractors, large loader and dump trucks equipped with plows.

Are we are building a new $20M garage yet contracting the work that requires a garage?

If I was on Council I would want some clear answers from the CAO/Infrastructure Dept.

Mt son-in-law uses puffers for allergies. Apparently they have a cumulative effect & you are going to have to keep on trying. He manages to get through Xmas with a fuzzy cat in our house. There isn't much going on in town right now so use the time for yourself.

There was a family who moved in to a newer subdivision in Town. They had a severely disabled son who just got his legs operated on recently so that he would be able to walk with special braces. He's been in a wheel chair for 4 yrs. The family took out some of their lawn and asphalt it so that their son was really close to the entrance door. A big no no in this town and surrounding municipalities. They did this not knowing permission or permit is needed. Everyone on the street knew of their son. Not one complaint was made to the Town. In fact, there was quite a few neighbors helping the family out in doing some work to the backyard so that he walking with his new legs would be little easier. Now that's a street I want to live on.

You cannot pick your family or you neighbours.

However, my neighbourhood has changed over the 15+ years I have lived there. Originally a lot of families, 2 or 3 kids, mom, dad. Mostly WASP.

Everyone gets along. Everyone knows each other. Backyard parties, discussions around the lawn mowers or snow shovels.

Kids grow up, move out. Mom and dad decide to downgradea and sell.

New home owners move in. Usually from middle east (Iran or Iraq seem to be the most common). Never come outside. Cut the grass once a month at the most. Driveways are usually clogged with snow and ice.

It's a very different world.

"It's a very different world."

You can say that again! (That's a bit of a theme around here)

Give me neighbours who have their priorities straight, and know what's really important in life - manicured lawns and snowless driveways...with a little neighbourhood gossip thrown in between chores, over "the lawn mowers or snow shovels."
