"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

All has been revealed

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Politics,,,The Art of Satisfying the greatest N...":

Mayor Dawe inherited a gong show, and has done quite a good job of trying to run this town regardless of some of the councillors still at the table! Unfortunately when you work with clowns, the circus continues!

***********

Yes sir...I think that sums up  the Mayor's attitude  just about right.

He 'inherited a gong show"

What do you do  when the voters give you a gong show to work with.

Neuter  it wherever you  can. Degrade it ...reduce  it  to zero....without authority or respect.

Form alliances to assist  in the strategy.

That would be wherever  and whenever, there is no camera. Cameras  have a way of reading between the lines.

People have an intuition about  things not  being quite what they should be,

The comment  will  certainly assist their comprehension.

Now they know ....Council are just a bunch of clowns.

Our  fearless but valiant leader has succeeded despite the circus that surrounds him.

Hey Ho,,,the Merry oh.

What will he do for a sequel, I wonder ?

Will that comment be his first endorsement  for a second term  as  Mayor?

Here's another endorsement for the mayor!

You mean like Evalina's endorsement by that former lawyer in the Auroran ? That was so effective.

That was an interesting comment. The Gong-show he inherited consisted of a # of councillors who ran on a slate with him , & Evelyn who was willing to give him a chance. He had the tools to do the job and rejected them. Chose to do the white-knight thing.....

Puff. It's only the end of January. Who knows what will happen. Who will run. Council in its current form has given us more than enough to handle.

Fine to critisize his methods... why not provide constructive suggestions give the current environment. We all know that there were no clowns in your administrations and everything ran fine. But, we are dealing in a new reality.

Perhaps it is up to the Mayor to find solutions to what appears to be a growing opposition to his apparent lack of understanding of the bottom line. Surely it can't depend on suggestions from lowly ' rubes ' as Cllr Ballard would say.

I agree with you. This is all premature. Let's deal with the present situation instead of wasting time on pipe dreams. Two budget meetings have been cancelled because someone[s] have decided that nothing more can be done. & more money is flowing out than in. That might be the ' new reality '.
" It's the economy, stupid. "

I know very little about the new candidate for Council.
She is only the beginning. There is plenty of time for a whole new crop of potentials. Me, I want to see the entire list.

While Cllr Ballard is twitting us to get our cars off the road because snow is coming. Like, duh !

On the Agenda for next Tuesday's General Committee meeting are two delegations having to do with Report CAO14-001 - Hillary-McIntyre Park Cost Benefits Study. This was originally submitted by the CAO in a memorandum dated January 14, 2014 with the recommendations that the report be received, that Staff be authorized to negotiate the terms of agreements of purchase and sale of three properties and that Staff report back to Council pertaining to the details of the process of developing a master plan for the properties and the outcome of the negotiations to purchase the three properties and to obtain authority to execute any such agreements.

To say that this is to put the cart before the horse or the egg before the chicken is a gross understatement. When the proponents of this wild and wooly and wacky scheme first laid it before Council, a cost figure of magnitude $10,000,000 was suggested. According to a comment of yours from a town document, in a very recent blog the figure has more than doubled to $22,000,000 with the town expected to fork out fifty percent, the balance to come from fundraising.

This entire subject is a colossal waste of time. Unless the proponents can present to Council a detailed and binding proposal to purchase, carry out the work and finance such a project at no cost to the taxpayers of Aurora, Council should not even be prepared to accept delegations in connection with this.

Councillors are being paid to administer the resources of the town on behalf of the towns' taxpayers in a transparent and accountable manner. This project is neither transparent nor accountable. It is a great big ball of nonsense and no further time should be squandered on it.

What is a Probus Presentation?

I have found a Probus Club described as "a group of retired or semi-retired professional and business people in the Aurora area meet monthly to listen to speakers, and arrange social outings"

I doubt if the club made the presentation, although these days you never know.

I think I would trust a presentation by the Seniors a heck of a lot more. Especially now that the Hydro Funds have been put into play by Council. Follow the $ trail.

I wonder what the reaction would be if this report was presented to the seniors ant the Senior Center. Now that would be interesting to see! I would actually by a copy of the video.

Since a # of us have to take responsibility for the election this Gong Show, all of them, it is only natural for us to be following their progress. Me, I've been keeping notes for quite a while.
