"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

A Tale of Two Properties

Some choice information came my way this morning. Has to do the designated Promenade Plan.

The town is planning to make grants and loans for owners  within a  designated area to spruce up and re-vitalise their vintage  properties at taxpayer  expense.

The new information is about who isn't prepared to make financing available, to complete the sale of a property within the Promenade

Precisely because  the property is within the Promenade.

The second sale that fell through  is the property  in the hollow, abutting  the erstwhile site of " The Browning " house , intended to be a Montessori school that never happened.

It includes the small apartment building known as Glen Aura.

S'right......Old,shabby, ripe for redevelopment.

Ain't gonna happen.

Mortgage Financing refused.

The town's  much vaunted plan ....The Promenade.....  that  dictates how private property should  or should not be developed ...........scuppered  one  deal and compelled another vendor  to take back two mortgages to allow the sale to proceed.

The Promenade Study has always been, and will continue to be, a disaster. We saw how they tried to force a builder to go an extra storey up even though the soil would not support such a structure. Word about such nonsense gets out and possible companies just write Aurora off. No skin off their noses. Plenty of other towns will welcome them.

Should members of Aurora Council, both present and future, be required to have a real estate and appraiser's license as a prerequisite of their eligibility to seek public office?

The Promenade Study dated 2010 was prepared by the same firm that prepared the Hillary Cost Benefit Study.

The only thing happening is that this firm is living off the blood of Aurora taxpayers.

Is it a new form of vampire?

That's what Town's staff is for.

In retrospect, the Hillary Cost Benefit Study would be interesting. Because while residents enjoy a visit there every so often & sometimes take visitors there, I
am more aware of how much money and labour has to go into it every year.

Do you attempt to verify any of the scuttlebutt that comes your way?

You mean like your comments ?
I have never seen a source mentioned by you. Others at least try to attribute the site they are using.

You can plant all kinds of vegetation according the the Promenade Plan. It might be a good idea, though, to make sure that there was real business growth within the area first.

Evelyn has known how to network since before the word was introduced.

21:34, what does that have to do with establishing the possible veracity of rumours?

In its most simplistic, it means that while E might get something wrong for a short period, her sources are generally trustworthy.

"...while E might get something wrong for a short period..."

That's blasphemy, you heretic!
