"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

A FLIGHT OF FANCY

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "MICHAEL SUDDARD FROM OTTAWA":

Why would anyone trust a blog site?
Blogs are one-sided brain-farts of mostly anonymous contributors. They may  not even be in the same Town.

************************

Why indeed?

It may be assumed those who deride blogs are the same who
do not fare well in the commentary.

Contributors may also be singing a different tune in a different circumstance.

The most severe critics may have an axe to grind and wish to do utmost harm.

Guest poster Michael Suddard does not  live in our town He used to and is sufficiently interested to keep in touch from Ottawa. I think that's a good thing.

The information he provided was extremely relevant. How else would we  have learned the Region of Ottawa Carlton is managing  garbage streaming so much  better than we are with a local contractor of good reputation.

We know plastic does not break down. What kind of a mind
thinks clear versus dark with small opaque plastic bags enclosed is better than no plastic?

Yesterday in Toronto,a Green For Life truck  was shown in a video with  recyclable materials being tossed in with regular garbage.

Oh Calamity!!

Mayor Tory was furious again. Not as furious as he declared himself to be over tardiness and budget over-runs of  subway obstruction. But furious nevertheless.

The  garbage collection was  clearly seen not going according to process.

It  might cost someone his job. He may be replaced by someone of alacrity and ability of staying alert to the task of separating disgusting discard for eight hours at a stretch, possibly paid on a piece work basis and no doubt hugely respected for conscientious effort.

I wonder if women are demanding equal rights to work as garbage collectors?

Does the province insist on  a percentage number of women and visible minorities be hired in that particular field of public service. Like firefighters and police services?

That's the beauty of blog land.

We may go wherever a flight of fancy takes us.

We have seen the recycles go in with the rest. Wrote to the Mayor who promised to " look into that for you " and then assured us that we were wrong. We were not wrong.

Well...Why would anyone trust the news media? I trust Evelyn, and that's why I read this blog. I find some anonymous posts quite humorous, and informative. I don't live in this Town, I work here, I own property here, I pay taxes in this Town. So I do have vested interested in this Town even though I don't live here.

If women would be paid like a police officer to pick up garbage, you better believe that they would demand equal rights! Did ya see that over half the cops on the Toronto force are on the sunshine list now....And they wonder how they have no money for transit.

Did you ever think that as a process, the sunshine list should have the limit raised? We increase salaries but the threshold for the sunshine list has stayed the same.

If you left it at $100k eventually all TPD will be on it.

One doesn't have to accept everything that appears in a blog to enjoy it. The weird or personal comments are easy to spot & ignore.

Well said Evelyn! Blogs are personal online journals and of course they will be one-sided views if managed by one person. How many sides does one person can have? Comments supposed to be to the post published and not a war among commentators. If visitors wish to engage in that kind of behaviour they can hit the road and visit discussion boards, this is where they can write their own one-sided views. It always amaze me how technology usually ends up misused. It is ironic that the person who made the comment chose to be Anonymous :).

I agree with your poster about the $100,000 entry mark to the sunshine list. This amount should have the yearly cost of inflation added from the date Mike Harris first introduced it. The list is more meaningless each and every year.

Otherwise, the benchmark should be set at around $140 -$150,000 for the next number of years.

7:49- In this economy? No. The median income for an individual in Ontario is $31,310. And when you say “we increase salaries”, who do you mean by “we”? If you’re not in a public sector job….I don’t know anyone in years who’s had their wages increase except for minimum wage earners.

$140.00-$150,000? Really?

This blog is the most one sided contrived blog out there - it's just to fun to mess with you! But of course you don't post much about what you do or have done wrong - all hail the almighty EV and her 12 supporters!

you sir, and/or madam, and/or both, are a big prat.

is your remark a compliment or criticism?

PRAVDA seems more one-sided but that's what happens when a country's leader has an 88% approval rating.

as far as contrived is concerned I think Evelyn is the exact opposite - natural.

I think it is you who are contrived. Check the dictionary for verification.
