"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

It's too much to bear

What a nightmare  for the family of the young father .

How will they ever come to terms with his death?

None of us can. It makes absolutely no sense.
There is the usual howl for the death penalty but Canada has been wrong far too many times to return to that measure.

We cannot help. It is not the same as when a police officer is slain and there are thousands of officers who respond. There is no back-up in place.

I think that there is a lot more to this story than what the media tells (or knows).

Our Prime Minister sent sympathy on his Twitter. That man make me cringe.

10:44 - why?

You have Social Media pundants (like C Watts) extolling the virtues of Twitter, why not use it?

Did Wynne say anything? or Trudeau?

Cringe? He makes me recoil.

BTW, what's a pundant?

@ 1:14 PM

It's "pundit". Pundit.

Why would we know if either Wynne or Trudeau have said anything? That is the point of NOT using twitter. Just a bit of extra class that cannot be taught. I know nothing about Harper's folks but something got left out on his social skills & empathy.

very important to note spelling errors when discussing the situation.

Sorry. You can twit all you want about winning or losing a hockey game. Not about the murder of a loved one.

3:45: Why do you know that Harper tweeted something then? Why is it important that he tweeted but it is not important that Wynne or Trudeau did not?

The family of this guy used Social Media to bring awareness to the abduction. Social Media, rightly or wrongly, is becoming the go to path to get information to the public. I receive Amber Alerts on my smartphone.

The fact that Harper used Twitter is not what irks you. The fact that Harper "is" irks you. Regardless of what he does or how he does it irks you. Your disdain for the man is the issue.

Why don't you (and those that started the whold "cringe" topic)try to leave the party politics out of this discussion and concentrate on the fact that this has happened? Harper had nothing to do with this and I am sure that a tweet was not his only comment on it.

The point was that it was simply tacky. The same would apply to anyone regardless of party.
