"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

SO SAD

The news  today is terrible. I got up early to hear how bad.

Not that there's anything I can do. Or say. Or write that will make a difference.

All we can do is listen .

This many are dead, This many critically injured and likely to die.

The French police are good at following up. The terrorists are dead . They must  have had associates.

Americans can't help because they have encumbered themselves with rules.

An American missile was recently fired into a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders because they thought terrorists hiding there.

What rules allowed them to fire a missile into a hospital with recovering patients unable to get out of bed?

Don't be afraid French people because then the terrorists have won.

Terrorists  don't give a damn about winning. They're already dead.

It seems more young women  from the west are joining terrorists to blow themselves up for the cause.

What's that about?

Why do young people from the affluent west have so little in their lives,  the prospect of self-annihilation  is a better alternative?

Why are there no studies?

President  Hollande has declared France is at war.

If France is at war, we are all at war.

The question .....who are we at war with?

The awful truth is ....many terrorists are our own children, nurtured within our own societies.

What do we have to say about that?

There was a President Allende of Chile in the early 1970s. The current French president is Hollande.

Finding something to say is going to be a problem for the Democratic Debate tonight.
They have changed the format & will not be talking about the economy and governance.
It sounds like it will all be about security.
I fear this plays right into the few GOP nut-bar who think dropping bombs everywhere & building walls are the answers.
A sad day, indeed.

I say we're in a whole lot of trouble. However anyone looks at this...it's not good for Canada or the rest of the world. Our new defense minister has been told to end combat missions against the Islamic state. I wonder if that's going to be changing. "Sunny Days" are already over for our new Kumbaya leader. Let's hope he decides wisely.

Yeah, right, like more boots on the ground in Syria would have stopped this. The Republican fringe seem to be forgetting that
Mr Bush, actually two of them, were the ones who upset the balance with western interference,

No one is making hasty decisions.
Our election is over. That " Kumbaya " stuff can get shelved for a few years. In return, i will refrain from references to our former leader's treatment of our military.

Let's hope that hasty decisions will not be made. But there will be a time that he will have to make some pretty tough choices. And whatever those choices will be, they will not be "sunny". Hope he's prepared for it.

I agree. It is part of the job.

Evelyn I would like to bring us back to Our Town for a moment.

On Saturday I was attending the Armoury and saw something rather disturbing.

I was standing talking to a meat vendor when I look across to another booth.

The women who was selling soups, jam, and cider, shows a customer their cider product.

It was Presidents Choice.

This is clearly not a true farmers market anymore as its about money.

One booth told me their table rates went up $15 and yet didn't the Town give them $$1000.

to reduce the rent expenses. This is sad as many are being excluded.

Now we are getting a bigger picture why.

I think they will stop if caught. Like little kids. Maybe write a letter summing that up to the Auroran ? It provides
something to be used at the council when the market request more money. A Councillor is never going to say
" i read it on a Blog. "

The new gov't will do just fine imho. They are already taking positive steps. There will be an embargo on tankers on the west coast, bids for new jets have been requested, moves are being made to try to reduce the suicides among our veterans, and the new PM is in Turkey meeting the other leaders, What's not to like so far ?

Two of those killed were Frenchmen living in Brussels. They were home-grown terrorists.

An unsigned note to Cllr Humfryes citing specifics should do the trick. She considers the Market to be her turf.
Actually I find it funny they would be so slack.

Bombs cannot be dropped everywhere. And a terrorist can be anywhere. It has nothing to do with helping refugees
who are fleeing violence in their own countries.
