"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Here's Another Question

A couple of weeks ago, Canada's efforts to win a seat on the U.N.Security Council was topping the news.

Then  it was Canada's failure to win a seat on the Security Council that made the headlines.

Then it was Portugal's success in gaining a seat and why? Somebody said  Portugal does not send any of her young men and women to the hot spots of the world.

Then last week, John McCain  appeared on television beseeching Canada to keep  her forces in Afghanistan .Don't let them leave when they are due to go, he begged.

This week, President Obama was in India  assuring that country of U.S. support for a seat in  the United Nation Security Council.

Does anybody out there understand why Canada  doesn't have a seat at the security council?

Are we not sending enough  young  Canadians  to be blown apart by  roadside bombs.

 Is that it?

If so,  how come Portugal gets a seat when they don't send any?

Why was   John McCain who  was not elected President in the last U.S. election, making a public appeal to Canada to keep our soldiers in Afghanistan ?

Why is President Obama committing U.S. support to India for a seat on the U.N. Security Council?

But not Canada?  Or did he do that when we weren't looking.

Is anybody making any sense out of the  headlines we read? Can you fill in for the rest of us in language we can understand?
