"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

What People Are Saying...Chris Watts in Particular

circling the drain of Customer Service

This notice was taped to my door around 10AM yesterday morning:
Instructions are provided in the notice to take the action prior to the arival of work crews.
At 8AM sharp this morning work comenced on my street making me question if the town believes it is acceptable to give less than 24 hr notice for this type of service disruption.
The notice was served on Labour Day a Nationwide statutory holiday.
Meaning that families, like mine, with small children returning to school the next day are involved in numerous preparations.
Unless it is the town's position that combining these activities with the inconvenience of not drawing water, using washing machines, laundry tubs, having showers, baths or flushing toilets this seems to be a planning oversight.
I understand that it was decided back in March that the town is developing a customer service strategy that would address things like customer service standards and measurements.
The town's pathetically cobbled together, inactive and now defunct blog made mention that :
"Council's approval means a consultant will now begin working with the staff to look at the current state of customer service at the town, identify gaps and come back to council with recommendations."
How about I save you the cost of your consultant.
As a resident facing the recent huge spike in our water bill I expect more from the town of Aurora.
If the town honestly considers this to be an example of exemplary customer service then they have such an overwhelming amount to learn that they need to focus their efforts away from monitoring water loss and start tracking grey-matter loss.

serving legal papers to private homes on
