Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "History Revisited":This is wonderful!
It's not even the middle of April and already we're chewing them to pieces.
What will it be like during the summer?
Will have to invent a whole new vocabulary

When Councillor Gallo proclaimed his bid for the Mayor's chair last week, a flurry of unflattering comments came through; mainly about the hair.
I didn't publish them. I needed time to think how things might evolve and Blog's role.
Then the candidate's reasons were reported in the Auroran . I realised ... a change in hair style was the only real statement.
Gaertner and Gallo are both registered candidates, They offered themselves early.
Both are incumbents. Town affairs are current. Records can be checked.
Responding comments to Blog are bound to reflect perception of their contribution to the town's well-being over eleven years onthe part of Councillor Gaertner and six for Councillor Gallo.
Good or bad, why should they be supressed ?
Comments will be heard wherever people gather. Why not here? Social media is just another
gathering place. It's not a huge circle. But it is a circle.
The games, so-to-speak, have begun.
A little early perhaps but then again, eager candidates make their own choice.
At the last Council meeting, the 2009 report recommending lease of the hydro property to the Departmnet of National Defence was tabled for Abel at his request.
Gallo called it for discussion. It was an opportune moment for Councillor Gaertner and himself to argue , after-the-fact, merits of the decision.
Memory did not serve them well.
Significant and cogent details had to be corrected par moi in a post.
I was there.
Simmering, not still, waters quickly came to a boil. The kettle, like the blackbirds, began to sing.
The rest is history...very much current.

It does seem very early but I never paid attention to municipal politics before moving to Aurora so I don't know what is normal.... if anything about Aurora politics even classes as ' normal '.
On the positive side the weather appears to be getting more settled so that people can get out more. That likely means the your Blog will be taken over by the night shift of commenters. And the early birds.
What if this were all a performance ?
What if Cllr Gallo switched places at the last minute with someone else already running for Council ?
It might work because Cllr Gallo could get cold feet and the other individual has more confidence and social skills.

I think something like that happened on the Citizen. During the day people had work, family and gardening while they gathered information. Then it got dumper altogether in batches.
Someone said
" If you find your opponents destroying themselves by themselves, don't interfere. "
It would be great to see Alison come back! Experience, active in the community, and has the kind of values Aurora needs to get back to. Can you work on that one Eve?

We are STILL fighting the fire !!!!!!!!!!
I can't find the minutes from that meeting.
Perhaps Mr. Gallo is playing mind games - with himself.
Presumably there is a fee for registering as a candidate for public office, although probably very small. So far the possible out of pocket expense is less than the price of a hair-cut, although in his case probably higher than the average.
So in the space of a nano-second a decision has been made, to seek the highest elective office in this jurisdiction.
But what politician knowingly seeks to campaign for a period of seven months? The only ones who seem to do this with regularity are those who wish to become the president if the United States, and these people think nothing of running for office for two or more years, at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars. And invariably they make fools of themselves during the course of their endeavour.
Mr. Gallo will now have to contend with the fact that every word that he utters, every thought that passes through his mind, every facial expression during council debate that is visible, every decision to which he is a party, recorded or not, will expose him to public scrutiny. And there will be dumb statements, thoughts, expressions and decisions that will be impressed upon the minds of viewers and readers. And they will be remembered.
Is this all a ploy? It would still be possible for Mr. Gallo to relinquish his mayoralty quest and seek instead to become an incumbent for council. Has he thought this through?
If the public is not enamoured with him as a possible mayor would they forgive him his feeble quest and return him to the table?
But someone who should not be forgiven a similar quest has a surname that also begins with "G."

Maybe Cllr Gallo is into Nigel-mode. I have never figured that one out. Nor met anyone who admits to voting for the man.
Storm coming - bring in anything light.
"Officially" the Hydro Building WAS NOT occupied by anyone. It was vacant, there were no interested purchasers.
The Parks department may have been using the facility to make picnic tables and storage, but they were squatters.
You can be revisionist but that is the reality.
@12:03
There were no interested purchasers because no one knew the place was for sale. That was secret.
Simple, no ?
Mr. Gallo's decision to run for Mayor is based on his visions.
"I believe the time has come for a modern comprehensive VISION for Aurora. I am very excited about putting forward a progressive campaign for the residents of this town.
I believe I will be the right Mayor for the future of this town. I have the passion, leadership experience and VISION to lead Aurora into the future.
I have a VISION for what I believe Aurora means to youth, families, businesses, and new residents. IT WILL BE RELEASED IN DUE COURSE."
When we were kids, we used to play cowboys and indians. Everyone wanted to be either the Indian Chief or the Cavalry Captain.
It seems like Gallo is still in his boyhood, only he wants to be Mayor.
Another Snow Day in Barrie & we have people running for office here for an election in the fall .
